ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT, 1984, SECTION 14

AS AMENDED AND THE ROAD TRAFFIC (TEMPORARY

RESTRICTIONS) ACT 1991

CHIPSTEAD AVENUE, NUTFIELD ROAD &

WOODCOTE AVENUE, THORNTON HEATH

TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF

VEHICULAR TRAFFIC & PARKING

2. Whilst the said works are taking place:

a) Chipstead Avenue will be closed at its junction with Woodcote Avenue.

b) Nutfield Road will be closed at its junction with Woodcote Avenue.

c) Parking will be suspended and temporary waiting and loading restrictions will apply at any time in the following locations:

i. Nutfield Road – outside Nos. 15 to 25, 16 to 18, and 20 to 22 Nutfield Road.

ii. Woodcote Avenue – adjacent to the flank walls of Nos. 18 and 20 Nutfield Road and adjacent to the flank walls of Nos. 29 and 31 Chipstead Avenue.

iii. Chipstead Avenue – outside Nos. 26 to 36, 31 to 33 and 27 to 29 Chipstead Avenue.

3. The Order will come into operation on 01 September 2026, and it is anticipated that the works will be carried out within two days. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further works be required.

4. Whilst the closures are in force the diversion route for traffic will be via Nutfield Road, Warlingham Road, Richmond Road, Quadrant Road, Brigstock Road and vice versa.

5. These restrictions shall not apply in respect of:

(a) any vehicle involved in carrying out the said work.

(b) any vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes.

(c) anything done with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer.

NOTICE OF TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC

1. Croydon Council HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that to facilitate gas main abandonment and relaying works by SGN they intend to make an Order the effect of which would be to temporarily restrict traffic in Price Road and Violet Lane.

2. Whilst the said works are taking place Violet Lane will be closed in two phases as detailed below between 31 August and 21 September 2026.

a) Violet Lane between its junctions with Warham Road and Price Road.

b) Violet Lane between its junctions with Price Road and Lennox Gardens, including the closure of Price Road at its junction with Violet Lane.

3. During the closures, one-way working in Violet Lane between Ashley Lane and Hillside Road will be suspended to allow two-way traffic.

4. During the closures, the diversion routes for vehicular traffic will be as detailed below.

• Violet Lane/ Price Road, closure – via Hillside Road and Denning Avenue, or Hillside Road and Violet Lane, and reversed.

• Violet Lane closure – via Denning Avenue and Hillside Road, or Price Road and Hillside Road, and reversed.

5. The Order will come into operation on 31 August 2026, and it is anticipated that the work will be completed as detailed above. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required.

6. The restrictions shall not apply in respect of:

(a) a vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.

(b) anything done with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer.

(c) any vehicle involved in carrying out the specified works.
