THE MERTON (WAITING AND LOADING
RESTRICTION) (AMENDMENT NO. 546) ORDER 2026
1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Merton, on 12 August 2026, made the above-mentioned Order under sections 6 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.
2. The general effect of the “Waiting and Loading Restriction” Order will be to make minor amendments regarding waiting restrictions in Buckleigh Avenue and Kenley Road to better reflect the current on-site layouts.
3. A copy of the Order, which will come into force on 24 August 2026, and other documents giving more detailed particulars of the Order, can be inspected during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive until the end of six weeks from the date on which the Order was made at Merton Link, Merton Civic Centre, London Road, Morden SM4 5DX.
4. Any person desiring to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or that any of the relevant requirements thereof, or of any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Order may, within six weeks from the date on which the Order was made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)
LONDON BOROUGH OF MERTON
(ASHCOMBE ROAD, SW19) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
1. The Council of the London Borough of Merton hereby give notice that to facilitate telecoms works in Ashcombe Road, they intend to make an Order, the effect of which would be to temporarily restrict vehicular traffic in the said road.
2. During the works no person would cause or permit any vehicle to:-
(a) enter or proceed in Ashcombe Road from a point 50 metres north of the northern kerbline of its junction with Queens Road generally north-westwards for 35 metres; or
(b) wait, including for the purpose of loading or unloading a vehicle, in the length of Ashcombe Road specified in sub-paragraph (a) above.
3. The restrictions would only apply during such times and to such extent as would from time to time be indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.
4. Nothing in the Order would apply to:-
(a) any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the said works; or
(b) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a police community support officer in uniform; or
(c) any vehicle being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes, subject to site conditions; or
(d) so as to prevent vehicular access to premises in or adjacent to the length of road specified in paragraph 2 above, insofar as access is reasonably practicable without interference with the works.
5. Vehicular traffic affected by the road closure should proceed using Queens Road, Haydons Road, Cromwell Road or vice versa.
6. Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.
7. The Order would come into force on Wednesday 9 September 2026 and it is expected that the works would be completed by Saturday 19 September 2026. However, the Order would remain in force for a period of 3 months should further works be required.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTIONS 14(1)
LONDON BOROUGH OF MERTON
(ROPER WAY, MITCHAM) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
1. The Council of the London Borough of Merton hereby give notice that to facilitate telecoms works, they intend to make an Order, the effect of which would be to temporarily restrict vehicular traffic from entering, proceeding or waiting, including in any parking places, in Roper Way.
2. During the works no person would:-
(a) cause or permit any vehicle to enter or proceed in Roper Way, from its junction with Eastfields Road generally north-eastward for 30 metres; or
(b) cause or permit any vehicle to wait, including for the purpose of loading or unloading a vehicle, in the length of road specified in sub paragraph 2(a) above; or
(c) enter or proceed in the western footway adjacent to the length of road specified in sub-paragraph 2(a) above.
3. During the works the following Orders would be suspended:
(a) London Borough of Merton (Prescribed Route) (No. 48) Traffic Order 1990;
(b) Merton (Prescribed Route) (Sandy Lane) Traffic Order 2021.
4. Any designated parking place situated in the road or length of road specified in paragraph 2 above would be suspended for the duration of the works.
5. The restrictions would only apply during such times and to such extent as would from time to time be indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.
6. Nothing in the Order would apply:-
(a) any vehicle being used in the execution of the said works or for the loading or unloading of construction vehicles; or
(b) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a police community support officer in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer; or
(c) any vehicle being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes, subject to site conditions.
7. Vehicular traffic affected by the road closure should proceed using one or more of the following roads as required:
Eastfields Road, Guya Gardens, Lock’s Lane, Priestley Road, Sandy Lane, Streatham Road.
8. Pedestrians affected by the footway closure should proceed using the footway opposite or as directed by signage.
9. Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.
10. The Order would come into operation on 29 August 2026 and it is anticipated the works would be completed in one day. However, the Order would remain in force for a maximum period of 3 months should further works be required.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)
LONDON BOROUGH OF MERTON
(VARIOUS ROADS) (NO. 13) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
1. The London Borough of Merton Council hereby give notice that to facilitate a programme of carriageway micro-resurfacing and general maintenance works to be undertaken in the roads specified in column 1 of the Schedule to this notice, they intend to make an Order, the effect of which, during the works, would be to temporarily prohibit vehicular traffic from entering, proceeding or waiting, including in any parking places, in those roads or lengths of roads specified in column 1 of the Schedule to this notice.
2. Any designated parking place situated in any of the roads or lengths of roads specified in column 1 of the Schedule to this notice would be suspended for the duration of the works in those roads or lengths of road.
3. Alternative routes for diverted traffic would be indicated by advance warning and diversion signs on the roads affected when the works are in progress.
4. Any vehicle that is in contravention of any waiting restrictions imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.
5. Nothing in the Order would apply to:-
(a) any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the said works; or
(b) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police officer in uniform or a police community support officer in uniform; or
(c) any vehicle being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes, subject to site conditions; or
(d) any person requiring vehicular access to properties adjacent to the prohibited roads or lengths of roads insofar as access is reasonably practicable without interference with the said works.
6. The Order would come into force on Thursday 27th August 2026 and the anticipated works dates are specified in column 2 of the Schedule to this notice. However, the Order would remain in operation for a maximum period of 12 months and its provisions would be re-introduced should further works be required.
