Chichester Road - Temporary Road Closure

Portsmouth City Council (Chichester Road) (Temporary Road Closure) (Temporary Prohibition of Loading and Waiting) (No.141) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that Portsmouth City Council intends to make the above Order under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.
The Order comes into operation from 1st September 2026 and the effect will be as follows:
A) TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE AND PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING
PAULSGROVE ROAD
For 20 metres from its junction with Chichester Road.
PRESTON ROAD
For 20 metres from its junction with Chichester Road.
BEDHAMPTON ROAD
For 20 metres from its junction with Chichester Road.
WALLACE ROAD
For 20 metres from its junction with Chichester Road.
WESTBOURNE ROAD
For 20 metres from its junction with Chichester Road.
B) REASON FOR THE ORDER
To facilitate telecommunications works.
C) DURATION OF THE ORDER
From 1st September 2026 to 11th September 2026 or completion of the works, whichever is sooner. Notwithstanding the above, works will take place in sections as notified by signage and letters to residents in advance of works taking place.
D) DIVERSION
Vehicles will be diverted from:
Paulsgrove Road - Chichester Road, Preston Road, Powerscourt Road, then Powerscourt Road, Farlington Road, Chichester Road;
Preston Road - Chichester Road, Bedhampton Road, Powerscourt Road then Powerscourt Road, Paulsgrove Road, Chichester Road;
Bedhampton Road - Chichester Road, Wallace Road, Powerscourt Road then Powerscourt Road, Preston Road, Chichester Road;
Wallace Road - Chichester Road, Westbourne Road, Powerscourt Road then Powerscourt Road, Bedhampton Road, Chichester Road;
Westbourne Road - Chichester Road, Funtington Road, Powerscourt Road then Powerscourt Road, Westbourne Road, Chichester Road
Pedestrian access will be maintained around the works.
Cycles to follow vehicle diversion or dismount and follow pedestrian diversion around the works.
