Charlotte Street - Temporary Road Closure

Portsmouth City Council (Charlotte Street) (Temporary Road Closure) (Temporary Prohibition of Loading and Waiting) (No.140) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that Portsmouth City Council intends to make the above Order under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.
The Order comes into operation from 1st September 2026 and the effect will be as follows:
A) TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE AND PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING
CHARLOTTE STREET
From its junction with Cascades Approach to its junction with Commercial Road.
COMMERCIAL ROAD
From its junction with Charlotte Street to its junction with Marketway Roundabout.
SOUTH LINK ROAD
In its entirety.
LAKE ROAD
From its junction with Charlotte Street to its junction with Spicer Street.
LANDPORT VIEW
From its junction with Charlotte Street to its junction with Toby Street.
EDEN STREET
From its junction with Charlotte Street to its junction with Toby Street.
B) REASON FOR THE ORDER
To facilitate kerbing, slab & bollard, resurfacing and lining works.
C) DURATION OF THE ORDER
From 1st September 2026 to 31st October 2026 or completion of the works, whichever is sooner. Notwithstanding the above, works will take place in sections as notified by signage and letters to residents in advance of works taking place.
D) DIVERSION
Vehicles will be diverted from:
Cascades Approach, Hope Street Roundabout, Marketway, Marketway Roundabout, Commercial Road, Cornmill Street, Cornmill Street Roundabout, Lake Road;
Cascades Approach, Hope Street Roundabout, Marketway, Marketway Roundabout, Commercial Road, Cornmill Street, Landport View;
Lake Road, Cornmill Street Roundabout, Cornmill Street, Marketway Roundabout, Marketway, Hope Street Roundabout, Cascades Approach.
Pedestrian access will be maintained around the works.
Cycles to follow vehicle diversion or dismount and follow pedestrian diversion around the works.
