Cherwell - Map-Based Traffic Management Order Consolidating Existing Restrictions

(MAP BASED) (TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT) ORDER 2026
NOTICE is given that on the 10 August 2026 Oxfordshire County Council made the above order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers.
The order, which come into force on 17 August revokes all individual Traffic Management orders and restrictions in the Cherwell District that are ‘moving traffic offences’.
This is an administrative function only and consolidates all provisions into the new ‘Map-based’ order format without making any changes to existing on-road restrictions, and has incorporated and revoked all previous variation/amendment orders specified in Schedule One to the new order.
The order replicates the provisions for all restrictions, e.g. One-Way Streets, No entry, Bus Lanes, Prohibition of vehicle access, left and right turn prohibitions etc. and places them into the new order. Instead of many schedules of restrictions described in text, they are replaced by maps divided into ‘tiles’ or grids that graphically display all relevant restrictions and details/signage affecting the roads, as well as links to the traffic order and any future amendments as they occur from time to time. This does not affect any parking restrictions. This order is available on the OCC website.

If you wish to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or on the grounds that any requirement of this Act or of any instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to this Order, you may within six weeks from 10 August 2026 apply to the High Court for this purpose.
