(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES) NO 3 ORDER 2026

NOTICE is hereby given that Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council intend in not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).

The effect of the Order will be to temporarily prohibit vehicular traffic from proceeding along the lengths of roads set out in the Schedule below whilst the Order is in force. During such periods as are indicated by traffic signs informing the public that the roads are closed.

The Order is necessary to enable the Council’s Highway Section to carry out resurfacing and maintenance works in the roads.

The Order will come into force on the 31st August 2026 and shall continue in force for a maximum duration of 18 months, or until the works are completed whichever is the sooner. It is estimated that the works for each closure will take 3 days to complete.

SCHEDULE
Schedule 1
A4107 Abbey Road, Port Talbot will be closed from its junction with A48 Talbot Road in an easterly direction for 175m along its length.

Rice Street, Port Talbot will be closed in its entirety.

The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via Theodore Road Cambrian Place, the unaffected section of A4107 Abbey Road, Tan Y Groes Street, Pen Y Bryn Road, Ynys Street Forge Road, Prior Street, B4286 Heilbronn Way and Talbot Road.

Similarly, this route will operate in the reverse direction.

Schedule 2
A4107 Afan Valley Road, Pontrhydyfen will be closed from its junction with B4282 Queen Street in a northerly direction for 6.1km along its length.

The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via the unaffected section of A4107 Pentwyn Road, Afan Road, Brytwn Road, A4107 Station Road, A4063 Maesteg Road, Pen Y Bryn, Cymmer Road, Duffryn Road, Picton Street, Castle Street, A4063 Talbot Street, B4282 Bryn to Maesteg and B4282 From Cwmavon to Bryn.

Similarly, this route will operate in the reverse direction.

Schedule 3
B4287 Queen Street, Pontrhydyfen will be closed from its junction with A4107 Afan Valley Road in a westerly direction for 175m along its length.

The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via the unaffected section of B4287 Queen Street, B4286 Dan Y Bont, Maes Y Bettws, Salem Road, Depot Road, High Street, Cwmavon Road, A48 Heilbronn Way, A48 Talbot Road A4107 Abbey Road, Tan Y Groes Street, Pen Y Cae Road, Caehendy, Dan Y Ffynnon and A4107 Afan Valley Road.

Similarly, this route will operate in the reverse direction.

Schedule 4
Aqueduct Terrace Access Road from B4287 Pontrhydyfen be closed from its junction with B4287 
Queen Street in a westerly direction to its junction with Aqueduct Terrace in its entirety.

Aqueduct Terrace Pontrhydyfen will be closed from its junction with Aqueduct Terrace Access Road from B4287 in a northerly direction in its entirety.

Aqueduct Terrace and Penhydd Street Rear Lane will be closed from its junction with Aqueduct Terrace in a westerly direction in its entirety.

Oakwood Avenue Access Road from Aqueduct Terrace will be closed from its junction with Aqueduct Terrace Access Road from the B4287 in a westerly direction in its entirety.

Penhydd Street will be closed from its junction with Oakwood Avenue Access Road from Aqueduct Terrace in a southerly direction in its entirety.

Penhydd Street and School Street Rear Lane will be closed from its junction with Oakwood Avenue Access Road from Aqueduct Terrace in a northerly direction in its entirety.

School Street will be closed from its junction with Oakwood Avenue Access Road from Aqueduct Terrace in a northerly direction in its entirety.

Oakwood Avenue Lane will be closed from its junction with Oakwood Avenue Access Road from Aqueduct Terrace in a southerly direction in its entirety.

Access will be maintained for Pedestrians and Emergency Vehicles.

Schedule 5
A4107 from Cymmer to Blaengwynfi will be closed from its junction with Viaduct Road in an easterly direction for 2.7km along its length.

The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via A4107 High Street, A4107 from Blaengwynfi to County Boundary, A4062, A4061, 4061, A4063 Commercial Street, Talbot Street, Castle Street, High Street, Picton Street, Tonna Road, Dyffryn Road, Cymmer Road, Pen Y Bryn, Maesteg Road, A4107 Lloyds Terrace and A4107 from Cymmer to Blaengwynfi.

Similarly, this route will operate in the reverse direction.

Schedule 6
Bertha Road Margam will be closed from its junction with Bertha Place in a southerly direction to its junction with Cyncoed Road for 80m along its length.

The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via the unaffected section of Bertha Road, Road Adjacent to 93 and 95 Beechwood Road, A48 Margam Road, Ty Fry Road and the remaining unaffected section of Bertha Road.

This route will not operate in the reverse direction.

For the duration of the closure the One-Way Order on Bertha Road will be suspended from its Junction with Cyncoed Road in a southerly direction for 335m along its length.

Schedule 7
Cyncoed Road will be closed from its junction with Bertha Road in a westerly direction for 75m along its length.

The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via Bertha Road, Road Adjacent to 93 and 95 Beechwood Road & A48 Margam Road.

Schedule 8
College Green will be closed from number 2 to 17 College Green Ty’r Groes Drive will be closed from number 3 to 23 Ty’r Groes Drive Beechwood Road will be closed from number 97 to 123 Beechwood Road.

For the duration of the closure the One-Way Order on College Green, Ty’r Groes Drive & Beechwood Road One-Way Order will be suspended from outside number 2 College Green in an easterly direction for 430m along its length.

There will be no alternative route for vehicular traffic.

Schedule 9
Brunel Way will be closed from its junction with Brunel Park in a southerly direction for 515m along its length.

The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via the unaffected section of Brunel Way, A48, A4241 Seaway Parade, A4241 Afan Way, Central Avenue and Baglan Energy Park Road.

Similarly, this route will operate in the reverse direction.

Schedule 10
Dyffryn Road will be closed from its junction with Caradog Street in a northerly direction for 390m to its junction with Field Terrace.

Field Terrace will be closed from its junction with Dyffryn Road in a westerly direction 50m along its length.

The alternative route for vehicular traffic for both Dyffryn Road and Field Terrace will be via Tanygroes Place, Tanygroes Street, Abbey Road, A48 Talbot Road, A48 Commercial Road and the unaffected section of Dyffryn Road.

Similarly, this route will operate in the reverse direction.

Schedule 11
Dyffryn Road will be closed from its junction with Field Terrace in a northerly direction for 300m along its length.

The alternate route for vehicular traffic will be via the unaffected section of Dyffryn Road, Goytre Road, Road from Goytre to Bryn, Owen Jones Way, Varteg Road, B4282 Maesteg Road, Bryngurnos Street, B4282 from Cwmavon to Bryn, A4107 Afan Valley Road, Danyffynnon, Lletti Harri, Penycae Road and Tanygroes Place.

Similarly, the above route will operate in the reverse direction.

Schedule 12
Field Terrace and Tanygroes Place 7.5T Weight Limit Order will be temporarily suspended for the duration of this Order from the junction of Dyffryn Road in a westerly direction to the junction of A4107 Penycae Road.
