A3 TRUNK ROAD – THURSLEY TO LONGMOOR
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the A3 Trunk Road in the County of Hampshire, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road.

The effect of the Order would be to authorise:-

1) the overnight closure of:-

a) both carriageways, in phases (see below), of the A3 between Thursley Interchange and Longmoor Interchange (A325);

b) all slip roads leading to and from the lengths of carriageway described in a) above; and

c) all side roads at junction with the lengths of carriageway described in a) above.

2) the 24-hour closure of all the lay-bys adjacent to the lengths of carriageway described in 1)a) above.

These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake barrier replacements and all associated works.

It is expected that the work would occur in two phases, northbound starting on September 1st 2026 for 3 weeks, and southbound starting on October 9th 2026 for 5 weeks. All overnight closures would occur between 21:00 and 06:00 hours. Details would be available on the National Highways website.

The Order would come into force on 29th August 2026 for a maximum of eighteen months, ceasing on completion of the works.

Through traffic affected by the closures would be strategically diverted using the A325 and A31 in either direction.

The temporary closures and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
