(SPEED LIMITS) ORDER 2006 (AMENDMENT NO. 2) ORDER 2026

On 11 August 2026 Shropshire Council made an order to introduce a 20mph speed limit onto the following lengths of roads in Shrewsbury:

Horsefair
In its entirety
Abbey Foregate
From its junction with Whitehall Street in a westerly and then south-westerly direction for a distance of 230 metres
Railway Lane
In its entirety
Railway Terrace
In its entirety
Portobello
In its entirety

Any existing speed limits on these lengths of roads will be revoked.

THE SHROPSHIRE COUNCIL
(PROHIBITION AND RESTRICTION OF WAITING AND PARKING PLACES)
(CONSOLIDATION) ORDER 2009 (ABBEY FOREGATE, SHREWSBURY)
(AMENDMENT) ORDER 2026

On 11 August 2026 Shropshire Council made an order to make the following changes to the parking restrictions on Abbey Foregate, Shrewsbury:

Restricted Parking Zone No Waiting or Loading at Any Time Except in Signed Bays

Abbey Foregate Loop Road (Both
sides)
From its junction with Whitehall
Street in a westerly then south-
westerly direction for a distance of
230 metres.

Loop Road
(South side)
From the north-east side of its junction with Railway Lane for a distance of 19 metres in a south- westerly direction.

Disabled Badge Holders Only
Abbey Foregate Loop Road
(South side)
From a point 30.5 metres north-east of the extended north-eastern kerb line of Railway Lane in a north- easterly direction for a distance of 21 metres.

Limited Waiting Mon-Sat, 8am-6.30pm, 3 hours No Return Within 3 Hours

Loop Road (South and West side)

From a point 51.5 metres north-east of the extended north-eastern kerb line of Railway Lane in a north- easterly, easterly and then southerly direction to a point 14 metres north of its eastern-most junction with Abbey Foregate.

No Waiting at Any Time

(East side)
From its junction with Whitehall Street to its eastern-most junction with Abbey Foregate.

Any existing parking restrictions at the above locations will be revoked.

These changes will come into effect on 17 August 2026.

Copies of the orders may be examined during normal office hours (8:45am-5:00pm Monday to Thursday, and 8:45am-4:00pm on Fridays) at Shropshire Council, The Guildhall, Frankwell, Shrewsbury.

If you wish to question the validity of either Order, or any provisions in it, on the grounds that they are not within the powers conferred by The Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act or of any instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Order, you may, within six weeks from 11 August 2026, apply for that purpose to the High Court.
