What is happening?

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (THE SQUARE, MILNTHORPE) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to:

1. Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along that section of The Square, from its junction with Firs Road, extending in a westerly direction for approx. 200 metres.

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times and a suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via Church Street, Kirkgate Lane and Main Street.

2. Prohibit any vehicle from waiting at any time, on any day and/or from loading and unloading, at any time, on any day (including blue badge holders) along the following sections of road The Square, Milnthorpe (both side) from its junction with Firs Road, extending in a westerly direction for approx. 200 metres.

The Order will come into operation on 1st September 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required for 4 weeks and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
