NOTICE OF PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION AND DEFINITIVE MAP & STATEMENT MODIFICATION ORDER 2026

SECTION 119 HIGHWAYS ACT 1980 SECTION 53A(2) WILDLIFE & COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981 DIVERSION OF FOOTPATH 243017, LOWESWATER FELL AND POTTERGILL, LOWESWATER PARISH

The above order made on 6 August 2026 will divert the public footpath between Pottergill (NY 1426 2237) and the fell wall at NY 1416 2240, AND divert the continuation of the footpath to the main used route over the fell between NY 1416 2240 and NY 1241 2244, as shown on the order plan.

A copy of the order and plan may be seen during office hours at Customer Services, Cumberland Council, Allerdale House, New Bridge Road, Workington, CA14 3YJ, at the Lake District National Park Authority, Wayfaring House, Murley Moss, Oxenholme Road, Kendal, LA9 7RL and at Cockermouth Tourist Information, Cockermouth Library, 88 Main Street, Cockermouth, CA13 9LU.

Any representations about, or objections to, the order should be sent in writing to Rights of Way at the above (LDNPA) address or to will.hinchliffe@lakedistrict.gov.uk; to arrive no later than 10 September 2026.

If we receive none, or if all received are withdrawn, we may confirm an unopposed order. If an order is submitted to the Secretary of State for confirmation, we will include any outstanding representations and objections.
