Shotton - Temporary Footpath Closure Due To Bridge Repair/Renewal Works
What is happening?
The County Council of Durham (Public Rights of Way Footpath No.11 Shotton Parish, (Eddreracres Dene Footbridge) Shotton) (Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2026
The Council on 5/8/2026 made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all pedestrian traffic from proceeding on the following lengths of footpath a total 895 metre length of the Footpath No.11 Shotton Parish from its junction with Shotton Lane (on the eastern side of the closure) in a westerly direction for 340 metres, to Eddreracres Dene Footbridge, continuing for 540 metres to its junction with Footpath No.10 Shotton Parish to enable bridge repair/renewal works to be undertaken. Throughout the period of closure, a diversion will be available to pedestrian traffic from east side of closure in a northerly direction on Shotton Lane, you will reach Whitehouse Way, turn left until you reach the junction of Shotton Lane head north west until you reach public footpath 10, then head south over Eddreracres Fa and vice versa. The maximum duration of the Order is 6 months. The works commenced under urgent 21 day Temporary Traffic Regulation Notice on 16/7/2026 and now require extending from 6/8/2026 for 6 months. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
