Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 10 August 2026

Coming into force: 17 August 2026

This Order is being introduced because of new gas service connection works which are anticipated to be completed 26 August 2026. This is a 24 hour daily road closure. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in the whole length of Chalk Hill from junction Aston Street to Blewbury Hill. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. Access will be maintained for cyclists and pedestrians. The alternative route for traffic is via Blewbury Hill, Bessels Way, Hagbourne Road, Thorp Street, Fullers Road, Baker Street and vice versa. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T18268/AC)

This Order is being introduced because of parapet repairs to Clifton Hampden Bridge which are anticipated to be completed 29 August 2026. This will operate between 19:00 and 06:00hrs. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in High Street from the A415 to the Barley Mow PH. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic is via High Street, A415, Tollgate Road, Appleford Road, B4016, Sires Hill, Didcot Road, High Street and vice versa. The effect of the Order is to close temporarily that part of the footpath from outside No.44 Kysbie Close to the cycle track. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for pedestrian access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of footpath. Appropriate signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. The alternative route will be signed locally. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in the length of Oxford Road outside No. 7. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic is via Oxford Road, Pettiwell, Watlington Road and vice versa. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic is via a combination of B4508, Cottage Road, Faringdon Road and vice versa.
