CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (U4372 MEADOW ROAD, WHITEHAVEN) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that because of the likelihood of danger to the public due to a sewer collapse and to enable subsequent repair works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along that section of the U4372 Meadow Road, Whitehaven from its junction with Latrigg Road extending in a south easterly direction for a distance of approximately 120 metres to its junction with Skiddaw Road.
A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times and a suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted sections of the U4372 Meadow Road, B5345 Meadow View, Ginns, Preston Street, New Town, Swingpump Lane, Strand Street, Duke Street, Scotch Street, Irish Street, Lowther Street, A5094, Back Corkicle, Inkerman Terrace, A595, and Hensingham Bypass.
This follows emergency notices dated 9 July 2026 and 30 July 2026.

The Order will come into operation on 20 August 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
