What is happening?

Somerset Council B3165 Clapton Road, Crewkerne in the Parish of West Crewkerne (Temporary 40mph Speed Limit) Order 2026

Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, intends to make an Order, the effect of which will be to introduce a temporary 40mph Speed Limit as specified in the Schedule below. This Order will come into operation on the 26?? day of August 2026 and will remain in force for eighteen months.

The Works are expected to commence on the 1?? day of September 2026 until the 31?? day of March 2027 (24hrs) to enable Volker Highways working on behalf of Network Rail to have safe access in and out of the works compound. The restriction will only apply when indicated by traffic signs. Exemptions are provided in the Order for emergency vehicles. A copy of the draft Traffic Regulation Order and the associated plans can be examined at www.somerset.gov.uk/TRO.
