(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Wolverhampton City Council propose to make an
Order under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as substituted by the
Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, prohibiting vehicles from proceeding on
the following stretches of road:
· Stafford Street outbound closed between Ring Road and Fiveways Island/Stafford
Road. Vehicular Diversion Route: Ring Road, Birmingham Road, Thompson Avenue,
Birmingham New Road, Black Country Route, M6, M54 and Stafford Road. It is
anticipated that the closure will operate for one day only for each operation between
23rd August 2026 and 20th September 2026 Sundays only, between the hours of 09:30
and 12:00.
· Stafford Street inbound closed between Fiveways Island/Stafford Road and its
junction with Cannock Road. Vehicular Diversion Route: Stafford Road, M54 and
Cannock Road. It is anticipated that the closure will operate for one day only for each
operation between 23rd August 2026 and 20th September 2026 Sundays only,
between the hours of 09:30 and 12:00.
· Stafford Road inbound closed between its junction with Broadlands to its junction with
Wobaston Road. Vehicular Diversion Route: Stafford Road, A5 Watling Street, Lodge
Lane, Wolverhampton Road, Cannock Road and Stafford Street. It is anticipated that
the closure will operate for one day only for each operation between 23rd August 2026
and 20th September 2026 Sundays only, between the hours of 06:30 and 09:00.
· Stafford Road inbound closed between its junction with Wobaston Road and its
junction with Three Tuns Lane. Vehicular Diversion Route: Stafford Road, A5 Watling
Street, Lodge Lane, Wolverhampton Road, Cannock Road and Stafford Street. It is
anticipated that the closure will operate for one day only for each operation between
23rd August 2026 and 20th September 2026, between the hours of 06:30 and 09:00.
· Underhill Lane closed in both directions from its junction with Bushbury Lane to its
junction with Wildtree Avenue. Vehicular Diversion Route: Bushbury Lane,
Kempthorne Avenue, Showell Circus, Third Avenue, Raynor Road, Cannock Road and
vice versa. It is anticipated that the closure will operate for one day only for each
operation between 23rd August 2026 and 15th September 2026, weekdays between
the hours of 09:30 and 14:30.
· Peacock Avenue closed in both directions from its junction with Lichfield Road to its
junction with Whiston Avenue. Vehicular Diversion Route: Lichfield Road, Linthouse
Lane, Griffiths Drive and vice versa. It is anticipated that the closure will operate for one
day only for each operation between 25th August 2026 and 15th September 2026,
weekdays between the hours of 09:30 and 14:30.
· Wolverhampton Road East closed in both directions from its junction with Goldthorn
Hill/Parkfield Road to the city boundary. Vehicular Diversion Route: Parkfield Road,
Birmingham New Road, Shaw Road, Hurst Road, Gorge Road, Bilston Street, High
Street, Bullring, High Street, Wolverhampton Road and vice versa. It is anticipated that
the closure will operate between 25th August 2026 and 20th September 2026,
weekdays between the hours of 09:30 and 14:30 or Sundays between the hours of
12:30 and 15:30 only.
· Robert Wynd closed its entire length in both directions. Vehicular Diversion Route: Hall
Lane, Hurst Road, Childs Avenue and vice versa. It is anticipated that the closure will
operate from 25th August 2026 until 15th September 2026, weekdays between the
hours of 08:00 and 17:00.
The Order may operate for a maximum period of eighteen months, but it is anticipated that
the works will be undertaken between the dates detailed above, between the times
specified, with one closure in place at any one time.
The Order is required to facilitate carriageway surface dressing and locking treatment
works by City of Wolverhampton Council.
