What is happening?

SOUTHEND-ON-SEA CITY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1)

TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC, PARKING, STOPPING, WAITING, LOADING AND UNLOADING AND TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF ONE-WAY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

(TT026-27-46) ORDER 2026 (HAINAULT AVENUE)

Notice is hereby given that Southend-on-Sea City Council intends, no less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding, stopping, waiting, loading, unloading at the locations stated in the Table of this Notice. The existing one-way traffic restriction in Hainault Avenue shall be suspended for the duration of this Order to permit traffic to proceed in both directions.

The Order will come into effect from 8am until 6pm on the 18 August 2026 until the 19 August 2026; however, this Order may continue in force for a maximum of 6 months to allow for remedial work or delays.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce whilst Telecommunication work is carried out.

The alternative routes can be found in the Table below and as signed onsite.

Access for emergency vehicles, residents and pedestrians will be maintained at all times during the closure.

The prohibitions or restrictions will apply only during such time and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.

Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction/prohibition imposed by this Notice may be issued with a Penalty Charge Notice and removed under the provisions of the Traffic Management Act 2004.
