THE BOROUGH COUNCIL OF BOLTON

(PUBLIC FOOTPATH NO. 243 BOLTON) PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION ORDER AND

DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT MODIFICATION ORDER 2026

The above Order, made on 5th August 2026 under Section 257 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 (“the 1990 Act”), and under section 53A(2) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 will modify the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by diverting The Borough Council Of Bolton (Public Footpath No. 243 Bolton) as follows:

Public Footpath No. Bolton 243 which leads over land north of 659 Radcliffe Road Bolton BL3 1AN commencing from point A on Hatherleigh Walk at grid reference SD74818 08418 in a generally west northwest direction to point B at grid reference SD74557 08511 for a distance of approximately 276 metres then running in a generally west by north direction to point C at grid reference SD74535 08514 for a distance of approximately 20 metres as shown by the continuous bold black line between points A-B-C over a total distance of approximately 296 metres on the Order Plan of a width of 1.5 metres throughout over a natural surface.

The new line will commence:

Restricted Byway No. Bolton 243 which leads over land north of 659 Radcliffe Road Bolton BL3 1AN commencing from a new line from point D at grid reference SD74813 08477 curving in a generally northwest direction to point E at grid reference SD74766 08517 for a distance of approximately 65 metres then curving in a generally west by north direction to point F at grid reference SD74579 08529 for a distance of approximately 188 metres then running in a generally west by south direction to point G at grid reference SD74539 08527 for a distance of approximately 40 metres as shown by the bold black dashes between points D-E-F-G on the Order Plan over a total distance of approximately 293 metres and of a width of 3 metres throughout over a asphalt surface.

A copy of the Order and plan may be viewed at the One Stop Shop, Town Hall, Bolton during office hours. Any objections or representations should state the grounds they are made on and be sent either by email to Andrew.Smith1@bolton.gov.uk or in writing to Highways and Engineering Division, 3rd Floor, Paderborn House, Civic Centre, Bolton BL1 1UA not later than the 21st September 2026.

If no objections or representations are duly made, or if any so made are withdrawn, the Council may confirm the Order as an unopposed Order. If the Order is sent to the Secretary of State for confirmation, any objections or representations which have not been withdrawn will be sent with the Order.
