TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDERS 2026

(NORWICH)

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

Norfolk County Council in exercise of its powers under Sections 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, hereby give notice that:

(i) THEY PROPOSE TO MAKE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:

CARROW ROAD – from 19m northeast of its junction with King Street for 60m north-eastwards to facilitate annual bridge maintenance works between 19:00 and 05:00 from 17th to 22nd August 2026 (may continue until 3rd October 2026). Alternative route is via: King Street, Bracondale, Queens Road, St Stephens Roundabout, Chapel Field Road, Grapes Hill, Barn Road, St Crispins Road, Barrack Street, Bishop Bridge Road, Riverside Road, Riverside, Koblenz Avenue, Carrow Road and vice versa. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

HASLIPS CLOSE – from its junction with Midland Street for 40m northwards to facilitate gas main replacement works from 17th to 28th August 2026 (may continue until 9th October 2026). Alternative route is via: Midland Street, Goldsmith Street and vice versa. The works promoter is Cadent.

MARION ROAD – from its junction with St Leonards Road for 20m southwards to facilitate electrical service installation works from 17th to 21st August 2026 (may continue until 2nd October 2026). Alternative route is via: St Leonards Road, Florence Road, Hill House Road and vice versa. The works promoter is UK Power Networks.

(ii) THEY HAVE MADE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:

BOWTHORPE ROAD, HOTBLACK ROAD, DEREHAM ROAD –

A) Hotblack Road from its junction with Dereham Road for 15m northwards and B) Bowthorpe Road from its junction with Dereham Road for 75m westwards and C) Dereham Road from 20m west of its junction with Bowthorpe Road for 60m westwards to facilitate electrical installation works, the Roads A and B will be temporarily closed (except for pedestrian access) and traffic (constituting any class of vehicle) over the Road C shall be temporarily prohibited to park, stop, load, and/or unload from 10th to 18th August 2026 (may continue until 29th September 2026). Alternative route is via: Road A: Dereham Road, Waterworks Road and vice versa. Road B: Farrow Road, Earlham Road Roundabout, Farrow Road, Guardian Road, Sweet Briar Road roundabout and Dereham Road. The works promoter is UK Power Networks.

MARRIOTTS WAY – cycle track and footpath from its joining with Hellesdon Road to its joining with A147 Barn Road Roundabout to facilitate cycle track and footpath resurfacing works from 10th to 24th August 2026 (may continue until 5th October 2026). Alternative route is via: Oak Street, St Martins Road, Drayton Road, Hellesdon Hall Road, Hellesdon Road and vice versa. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

ONLEY STREET, LEICESTER STREET –

A) Onley Street from its junction with Unthank Road to its junction with Leicester Street and B) Leicester Street from its junction with Onley Street to its junction with Gloucester Street to facilitate gas main replacement works from 10th August to 25th September 2026 (may continue until 25th March 2027). Alternative route is via: Gloucester Street, Unthank Road and vice versa. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

Unless otherwise stated, the effect of these Orders will be to prohibit the use by traffic of the named road(s)/footpath(s). In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance. Where an Order is for a reason other than works it is because of the likelihood of danger to the public or of serious damage to the road/footpath.

Anticipated dates are stated but the Orders may continue until the end date where necessary or required. The Orders are revoked on the end date or on the actual date of removal of the prohibition/restriction where earlier without further notice.

If necessary, the restrictions can have a maximum duration of 18 months or 6 months in respect of footpaths, cycle tracks, bridleways, restricted byways, and byways open to all traffic (BOAT), but may also be extended further by the Secretary of State.

Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.
