Suffolk - Multiple Temporary Closures Due To Various Works

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984: SECTION 14

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE C453 BELSTEAD ROAD AND U5038 GIRTON WAY, IPSWICH

Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the following roads:

● C453 Belstead Road, Ipswich from Girton Way to Stoke Park Drive
● U5038 Girton Way, Ipswich.

This is to facilitate surface dressing, surface sealing and road marking works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be Cambridge Drive, Birkfield Drive, Annbrook Road, Sheldrake Drive, Ellenbrook Road, Ipswich, Ellenbrook Road, Pinewood, Stoke Park Drive, Ipswich and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from:
● 08/08/2026 - 09/08/2026 from 10am - 2pm
● 14/08/2026 - 15/08/2026 from 10am - 2pm
● 31/08/2026 - 04/09/2026 from 7.30pm - 5am.

A further closure is scheduled for associated works. If necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF FOOTPATHS 31 AND 33, ALDRINGHAM CUM THORPE

Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the following footpaths:

● Footpath 31 Aldringham Cum Thorpe from Old Homes Road to footpath 33
● Footpath 33, Aldringham Cum Thorpe from Old Homes Road to footpath 31.

This is for safety reasons due to erosion. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

The diversion route will be Old Homes Road, North End Avenue for 500 metres northbound and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 08/08/2026 - 07/02/2027 (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE U6200 DANE HILL ROAD, HERRINGSWELL

Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the U6200 Dane Hill Road, Herringswell from Lilac Park footpath for 30 metres north eastbound to facilitate pole and overhead cabling works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be Dane Hill Road, Herringswell Road, the B1506, the B1085, Dane Hill Road and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 19/08/2026 - 20/08/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE C549 LOW ROAD, WORTHAM

Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the C549 Low Road, Wortham from Hempland Cottage for 200 metres westbound to facilitate telecommunications pole testing works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be Low Road, The Dolt, Dolt Lane, the A1088, the B1113, Fen Street and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate on 19/08/2026 from 9.30am - 3.30pm but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE U4555 LIME TREE PLACE, STOWMARKET

Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the U4555 Lime Tree Place, Stowmarket from no. 24 to no. 38 to facilitate stop tap replacements. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be Bridge Street, Ipswich Road and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 19/08/2026 - 21/08/2026 from 8am - 6pm but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the U4555 Bridge Street, Stowmarket from no. 16 - no. 25 to facilitate waterworks. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be Lime Tree Place, Ipswich Road and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate on 19/08/2026 from 7am - 12pm but, if necessary, the Order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

Suffolk County Council proposes to make the above Order for the District of East Suffolk under Section 84 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which would be to introduce:

● a 40-mph speed limit to The Heath (C375):
● From the centre of Main Road (C321), south for a distance of 240m
● From the centre of Main Road (C321), north for a distance of 900m to the start of the existing Brightwell 30mph speed limit.

(LAKENHEATH) (STATION ROAD) (B1112) (WOODLANDS) (U6140) (BARR DRIVE) (U6140) (RESTRICTION OF WAITING) (VARIATION NO.11) ORDER 2026

On 03/08/2026, Suffolk County Council made the above Order under Sections 1(1) and (2), 2(1) to (3), 4(2) and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which incorporates revision 0 of Map Tiles BS35 and BS36 into the above-named 2019 Order. The effect of this is to introduce:

● No waiting 8.15am - 9am and 2.45pm - 3.15pm, Monday - Friday on:
● Station Road (B1112) on its south side, from a point 19m west of the centre of the junction with Woodlands for a total distance of 39m in an easterly direction
● Woodlands (U6140) on:
● the east side of the western junction with Station Road (B1112) for a distance of 31.8m
● the south side from its junction with Station Road (B1112) for a distance of 175m to its junction with Barr Drive
● both sides, for the entire length from its junction with Barr Drive (U6140) for a distance of 134m in an easterly and southerly direction.
● on its south side in the turning head are between property nos. 84 and 88 16.5m
● on its north side at the stub end in line with property no. 96 northern boundary for 4.5m
● on its north side at its junction with Barr Drive for a distance of 13m in a westerly direction
● on its south side at its junction with Barr Drive for a distance of 12m
● Barr Drive (U6140) on both sides:
● from its junction with Woodlands for a distance of 11m in a southerly direction
● from its junction with Woodlands for a distance of 16m in a northerly direction
● Station Road (B1112) on its south side at the junction with Barr Drive from a point 9m west of the centre of its junction for a distance of 19.5m in an easterly direction.

Exemptions to the waiting restrictions allow a vehicle to wait for so long as is necessary to board or alight or to load and unload for building, industrial or demolition works; for emergency services; for the maintenance of the road or its services; and for fulfilling statutory duties. There are the usual exemptions for Blue Badge holders.

If anyone wishes to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, or on the grounds that any of the requirements of that Act or any instrument made under it have not been complied with in relation to the Order, they may within six weeks of the date on which the Order was made apply to the High Court for this purpose.

Suffolk County Council proposes to make the above Order for the Parish of Hoxne under Section 84, and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which would be to introduce:

● A 20-mph speed limit to:
● Abbey Hill (C520), from its junction with the C520 Cross Street, north for an approximate distance of 303m
● Chickery Road (C522), from its junction with the C520 Cross Street, east for a distance of 70m
● Cross Street (C520), From its junction with the C520 Abbey Hill, in a generally south easterly direction for an approximate distance of 610m
● Denham Low Road (U5505), from its junction with the C520 Cross Street, in generally south-westerly direction for an approximate distance of 111m
● Denham Road (C520), from its junction with the C520 Cross Street, in a generally south easterly direction for an approximately 103m
● Low Street (C519), from its junction with the B1118 Green Street, in a southerly direction to a point 28m south of Swan Bridge, an approximate distance of 331m
● Nuttery Vale (C521), from its junction with the C520 Cross Street, to a point 22m west of the western property edge of No. 7 Nuttery Vale, an approximate distance of 369m
● Wittons Lane (U5504), from its junction with the C520 Cross Street, in a northerly direction for an approximate distance of 149m.
