(PROHIBITION OF WAITING) CONSOLIDATION AND VARIATION ORDER 202X

AND SHARED USE FOOTWAY/CYCLE TRACK NOTICE 2026

The Norfolk County Council propose to make the aforementioned Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

The effect of which will be to:

1. Consolidate The Norfolk County Council (Diss, Various Roads) (Prohibition Of Waiting) Variation and Consolidation Order 2011 ("2011 Order"); The Norfolk County Council (Diss, Various Roads) (Prohibition of Waiting) Amendment Order 2017; The Norfolk County Council (Diss, Various Roads) (Prohibition of Waiting) Amendment Order 2017; The Norfolk County Council (Diss, Various Roads) (Prohibition of Waiting) Amendment Order 2018; The Norfolk County Council (Diss, Various Roads) (Prohibition of Waiting) Amendment Order 2020; and The Norfolk County Council (Diss, Victoria Road) (Prohibition of Waiting) Amendment Order 2023 (collectively known as the "Existing Orders") whereby the prohibition of waiting restrictions on the existing roads will not be changed except as detailed below:

2. Vary the 2011 Order to remove the following length of road from Schedule 1:

3. Vary the 2011 Order to introduce a prohibition of waiting restriction at any time along the following lengths of road:

4. Introduce an exemption for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes and in circumstance when the person in control of the vehicle is required to stop by law or is obliged to stop in order to avoid an accident or is prevented from proceeding by circumstance outside their control.

The Existing Orders are proposed to be consolidated for clarity and efficient administration of the restrictions. As part of the consolidation the Existing Orders are being updated to reflect current legislation, are being clarified to make them clearer and are being amended to correct minor errors.

Conversion of Existing Highway to Shared Use

Footway/Cycle Track Notice 2026

The Norfolk County Council is proposing to convert lengths of existing footway to a Shared use Footway/Cycle Track, under Sections 65(1), 66(1) and 66(4) of the Highways Act 1980 and all other enabling powers and in accordance with its duties under Section 122 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 at the following location:

Copies of the draft Order, a plan, the Statement of Reasons for making the Order and the Existing Orders being consolidated may be viewed online at https://norfolk.citizenspace.com/. Copies are also available for inspection at Norfolk County Council, County Hall, Martineau Lane, Norwich, NR1 2DH and at the offices of South Norfolk District Council Horizon Business Centre, Peachman Way, Norwich NR7 0WF.

Any objections and representations relating to the proposed Order and any comments relating to the Notice must be made in writing and must specify the grounds on which they are made. All correspondence for these proposals must be received at the office of nplaw, Norfolk County Council, Chief Executive’s Office, South Wing, County Hall, Martineau Lane, Norwich, NR1 2DH, marked for the attention of the Traffic Regulation Order Team by no later than 1st September 2026.
