TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026
Sunderland City Council gives notice that it intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit pedestrians along the lengths of footpath described in the Schedule. The Order is required to enable gas main repair works on or near the footpaths. The Order will come into operation on 9th September 2026. The maximum duration of the closure under the Order will be 6 months, however it is estimated that the closures will only be in operation for 7 weeks from commencement of the works. All pedestrians will be prohibited from the footpaths (except personnel involved in the works) until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. A diversion for pedestrians will be provided via the adjacent highway network. THE SCHEDULE From the extended north-eastern building line of 23 Dene Gardens for a distance of 34 metres in a north-easterly direction. From a point 5.5 metres south of the south-eastern building line of 26 Dene Gardens for a distance of 20 metres in a north-easterly direction. From the extended south-western building line of 34 Dene Gardens for a distance of 47 metres in a north-easterly direction.
