What is happening?
PUBLIC NOTICE THE CITY OF SOUTHAMPTON (VARIOUS ROADS) (SPEED LIMITS) (AMENDMENT 33) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT SOUTHAMPTON CITY COUNCIL made the above Order on 4th August 2026, the effects of which will be:
1. To introduce a 20mph speed limit for the entire length of Brewery Street, a new road created as part of the Bargate Development.
2. To amend the 20mph speed limit length descriptions within the traffic order to reflect changes to the road layout as part of the Bargate Development.
This Order will come into operation on 10th August 2026.
Copies of the Order, relevant map and statement of reasons can be viewed on the Councils website: transport.southampton.gov.uk/TRO or may be inspected Monday - Friday, 10am - 3pm at Gateway in the Civic Centre, Southampton SO14 7LY. Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions, on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the relevant enabling Act, or that a requirement of any such enabling Act or of any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with, may, within 6 weeks from the date of the Order, make application for this purpose to the High Court.
