Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.
CANTERBURY AREA
A28 Wincheap Green, Canterbury, CT1 2RP (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026
To allow bridge examination works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of A28 Wincheap Green, Canterbury from 22:00 hours on 1st September 2026, with estimated completion by 06:00 hours on 2nd September 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed 20m either side of the railway bridge, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic travelling westbound is via A28 Wincheap, Thanington Road, Thanington Slip Eastbound On, A2 Dover Road, Dover Road Slip East Off, Bifrons Hill, Bekesbourne Road, A2050 Dover Road, New Dover Road, St George’s Place, St George’s Roundabout, A28 Upper Bridge Street, Riding Gate Roundabout, Rhodaus Town, Station Road East, Pin Hill and Wincheap Green.
The alternative route for any through traffic travelling eastbound is via A28 Wincheap Green, Pin Hill, Station Road East, Rhodaus Town, Riding Gate Roundabout, Upper Bridge Street, St George’s Roundabout, A2050 St George’s Place, New Dover Road, Dover Road, Dover Road Slip East on, Bifrons Hill, Bekesbourne Road, Town Hill, A2050 Dover Road, Dover Road Slip West on, A2 Dover Road, Thanington Slip Westbound off, Thanington Road and A28 Wincheap.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
B2248 St Stephens Road, Canterbury, CT2 7JD (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2026
To allow water pipe repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of B2248 St Stephens Road, Canterbury from 18th August 2026 with estimated completion by 20th August 2026, between the hours of 20:00 and 06:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside number 63, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via B2248 St Stephens Road, Station Road West, A290 St Dunstans Street, Whitstable Road, Forty Acres Road, Beaconsfield Road, St Stephens Hill and vice versa.

To allow defect works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of B2248 St Stephens Road, Canterbury from 23:00 hours on 2nd September 2026 with estimated completion by 05:00 hours on 3rd September 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside number 100, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via B2248 St Stephens Road, St Stephen’s Hill, Beaconsfield Road, Forty Acres Road, A290 Whitstable Road, St Dunstans Street, B2248 Station Road West, St Stephens Road and vice versa.

Albert Street, Whitstable, CT5 1JJ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2026
To allow new connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Albert Street, Whitstable from 18th August 2026, with estimated completion by 24th August 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of Albert Hall, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Albert Street, St Peter’s Road, Sydenham Street, Stream Walk and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Aldridge Close, Herne Bay, CT6 7RJ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2026
To allow footway reconstruction works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on Aldridge Close, Herne Bay from 31st August 2026, with estimated completion by 25th September 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Church Lane & Bushy Hill Road, Westbere & Babs Oak Hill, Sturry. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026
To allow gas mains replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic, in phases, on part of Church Lane & Bushy Hill Road, Westbere & Babs Oak Hill, Sturry.
Phase 1 - Church Lane, Westbere
The road will be closed from 1st September 2026, with estimated completion by 14th September 2026.
The closure will be imposed between the junction with A28 Island Road and numbers 5 to 3, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Church Lane, Westbere Lane, A28 Staines Hill, Island Road and vice versa.
Phase 2 - Bushy Hill Road, Westbere
The road will be closed from 23rd November 2026, with estimated completion by 23rd December 2026.
The closure will be imposed from the junction with A28 Island Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Bushy Hill Road, Westbere Lane, A28 Staines Hill, Island Road and vice versa.
Phase 3 - Babs Oak Hill, Sturry
The road will be closed from 4th January 2027, with estimated completion by 15th March 2027.
The closure will be imposed between the junction with A28 Island Road and number 25, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Hoath Road, Maypole Road, Ford Hill, Highstead, Boyden Gate Hill, Church Lane, Sandpit Hill, Nethergong Hill, The Glen, A28 Island Road, Staines Hill and vice versa.
Clarendon Street, Herne Bay, CT6 8LH (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & TEMPORARY ONE-WAY SUSPENSION) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2026
To allow frame and cover works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Clarendon Street, Herne Bay from 19:30 hours on 17th August 2026, with estimated completion by 05:30 hours on 18th August 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed at the junction with B2205 Sea Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Clarendon Street, Claremont Street, B2205 Sea Street and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
The One-Way Order on Clarendon Street will be suspended for the duration of the works.
Fordwich Road, Sturry, CT2 0AS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026
To allow new gas service works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Fordwich Road, Sturry from 1st September 2026, with estimated completion by 4th September 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside number 12, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Fordwich Road, Water Lane, A28 Mill Road, Sturry Road, Tourtel Road, Military Road, Broad Street, Lower Bridge Street, A2050 St George’s Place, A257 Lower Chantry Lane, Longport, St Martin’s Hill, Littlebourne Road, Stodmarsh Road, Moat Lane, High Street, King Street, Fordwich Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Grasmere Road, Chestfield, CT5 3NL (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2026
To allow investigation works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Grasmere Road, Chestfield from 17th August 2026 with estimated completion by 27th August 2026, between the hours of 09:00 and 15:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed opposite number 7, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Greenhills, Barham, CT4 6PN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2026
To allow tree and brick repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Greenhills, Barham from 31st August 2026 with estimated completion by 11th September 2026, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed. The works will be taking place weekdays only.
The road will be closed 5 metres either side of the Historical Railways Estate EVL, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Railway Hill, Derringstone Street, Valley Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Mortimer Street & Bank Street, Herne Bay. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & TEMPORARY ONE-WAY SUSPENSION) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2026
To allow new service connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Mortimer Street & Bank Street, Herne Bay from 17th August 2026, with estimated completion by 21st August 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside number 48, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Mortimer Street, North Street, B2205 High Street, Bank Street and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
The One-Way Order on Mortimer Street will be suspended between the junctions with Bank Street and North Street.

Northgate, Canterbury, CT1 2EX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2026
To allow heavy jetting works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Northgate, Canterbury from 20:00 hours on 19th August 2026, with estimated completion by 05:00 hours on 20th August 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junctions with Union Street and King Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic northeast bound is via Northgate, Broad Street, A28 Military Road, Tourtel Road, Northgate, New Ruttington Lane, Union Place and Union Street.
The alternative route for any through traffic southwest bound is via Northgate, B2248 Kingsmead Road, St Stephens Road, The Causeway, Pound Lane, St Radigunds Street, Knott’s Lane, King Street, Borough and Northgate.

Park Lane, Bishopsbourne, CT4 5HS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2026
To allow water pipe repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on Park Lane, Bishopsbourne from 17th August 2026, with estimated completion by 19th August 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Poor Start Lane, Bridge. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026
To allow installation works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Poor Start Lane, Bridge from 1st September 2026, with estimated completion by 11th September 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed at the junction with Bramling Road, near to the junction with Coldharbour Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Poor Start Lane, Woodlands Lane, Woodlands Road, The Street, Pond Hill, Adisham Downs Road, Bramling Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Shalloak Road, Broad Oak, CT2 0QA (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026
To allow reinstatement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Shalloak Road, Broad Oak from 1st September 2026, with estimated completion by 2nd September 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside number 36, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Shalloak Road, Sweechgate, A291 Herne Bay Road, Sturry Road, Vauxhall Road, Shalloak Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
The Street, Bishopsbourne, CT4 5HS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2026

To allow cycle lane and signage installation works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Westgate Grove, Canterbury from 19:00 hours on 18th August 2026, with estimated completion by 05:00 hours on 19th August 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed at the junction with A290 St Dunstans Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

Wingham Well Lane, Bramling, CT3 1NN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026
To allow overhead cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Wingham Well Lane, Bramling from 4th September 2026 for up to one day, between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between White Cottages and the junction with A257, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Wingham Well Lane, B2046 Adisham Road, High Street, A257 Canterbury Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
