York - Multiple Temporary Traffic Restrictions Due To Various Works

What is happening?

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that City of York Council (the Council), in exercise of powers under Sections 14(1) & 15(8) of the Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act), on Thursday, 06 August 2026 in respect of the locations numbered (1), (2), (3) & (4). Furthermore, the Council, not less than 7 days from the publication of this Notice, intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Act in respect of the locations numbered (5), (6), (7), (8) & (9).

(1) MOOR LANE, BISHOPTHORPE

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Moor Lane, Bishopthorpe between its junction with Moor Lane Drive and a point 50 metres north-east of said junction (closed roads) during the period when water mains works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Tuesday, 11 August 2026 and ending at 1700hrs on Friday, 14 August 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will not be signed during the works period. Access for resident and emergency vehicles will be maintained throughout the works period.

(2) HARCOURT CLOSE, BISHOPTHORPE

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Harcourt Close, Bishopthorpe between the projected northern boundaries of property No’s. 17 and 19 (closed roads) during the period when highway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0930hrs on Wednesday, 12 August 2026 and ending at 1530hrs on Thursday, 13 August 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will be closed between 0930hrs and 1530hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will not be signed during the works period. Access for resident and emergency vehicles will be maintained throughout the works period.

(3) LEEMAN ROAD, YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Leeman Road, York between its junction with Station Avenue and a point 13 metres north-west of said junction (closed roads) during the period when utility installation works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2000hrs on Wednesday, 12 August 2026 and ending at 0600hrs on Monday, 24 August 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will be closed between 2000hrs and 0600hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Station Avenue, Station Road, Station Rise. Access for pedestrians, cyclists and emergency vehicles will be maintained throughout the works period.

(4) WILSTROP FARM ROAD, COPMANTHORPE

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Wilstrop Farm Road, Copmanthorpe between the north-western boundaries of property No’s. 11 and 17 (closed roads) during the period when telecoms works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0930hrs on Thursday, 13 August 2026 and ending at 1530hrs on Friday, 14 August 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will be closed between 0930hrs and 1530hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will not be signed during the works period. Access for resident and emergency vehicles will be maintained throughout the works period.

(5) POTTERY LANE, STRENSALL

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Pottery Lane, Strensall between a location 80 metres east of the projected eastern boundary of the property known as Park House Farm and a location 40 metres west of the projected western boundary of the property known as Hill Crest (closed roads) during the period when telecoms works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 17 August 2026 and ending at 1800hrs on Wednesday, 19 August 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will be closed between 0800hrs and 1800hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Carr Lane, Moxby Road, Sheriff Hutton Road. Access for resident and emergency vehicles will be maintained throughout the works period.

(6) BECKFIELD LANE, ACOMB

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Beckfield Lane, Acomb between its junctions with Wetherby Road and Lidgett Grove (closed roads) during the period when carriageway resurfacing works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 17 August 2026 and ending at 1700hrs on Sunday, 06 September 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will be close between 0800hrs and 1700hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Wetherby Road, The Green, York Road, Carr Lane, Boroughbridge Road. Access for resident and emergency vehicles will be maintained throughout the works period.

(7) KENT STREET, YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Kent Street, York between its junction with Barbican Road and the projected western boundary of the Q-Park Barbican off street car park (closed roads) during the period when telecoms works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 17 August 2026 and ending at 1800hrs on Friday, 25 September 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Barbican Road, Cemetery Road, Fulford Road, Fishergate, Fawcett Street, Paragon Street. A separate diversion route for HGV vehicles will also be signed. Access for resident and emergency vehicles will be maintained throughout the works period.

(8) GLADSTONE STREET, YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Gladstone Street, York between its junction with Huntington Road and a point 13 metres east of said junction (closed roads) during the period when water mains works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0930hrs on Monday, 17 August 2026 and ending at 1530hrs on Monday, 17 August 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Huntington Road, Dennison Street, Back Lane Between 40 To 64 Huntington Road From Gladstone Street To Dennison Street. Access for resident and emergency vehicles will be maintained throughout the works period. Additionally, all ‘on-street’ parking places situated on the east side of Huntington Road between its junctions with Dennison Street and the projected north-western boundary of property No. 72 will be suspended during the works period. (9) RAWCLIFFE DRIVE, CLIFTON

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Rawcliffe Drive, Clifton (between its junctions with Rawcliffe Lane and The Garlands (closed roads) during the period when carriageway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 17 August 2026 and ending at 1700hrs on Tuesday, 18 August 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will be closed between 0800hrs and 1700hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Rawcliffe Lane, Green Lane, Water Lane, Clifton. Access for resident and emergency vehicles will be maintained throughout the works period.

The above temporary Orders will not prohibit works or emergency access nor will they prohibit access to premises provided that access is not prevented by on-going works or safety concerns. Traffic signs/barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibitions/restrictions.
