Cumberland - Multiple Temporary Road Closures Due To Utility Works
What is happening?
CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (U1193 SANDY LANE AND U1192, BROADWATH, C1027 GREAT CORBY, C2050 ABBEYTOWN, AND U2254 NEAR WIGTON) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:
1. U1193 Sandy Lane, Broadwath, from its junction with the U1191, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 480m.
There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.
Duration: From 26 August 2026 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTROC/19348)
2. C2050 Abbeytown, from its junction with the B5307, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 610m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the C2050, B5302, Waverbridge and B5307 Abbeytown.
Duration: From 27 August 2026 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTROC/18989)
3. CI027 Great Corby, from its junction with The Glebe, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 2.4km.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the C1027, C1026, Heads Nook and A69 Warwick Bridge.
Duration: From 29 August 2026 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTROC/19396)
4. UI192 Broadwath, from a point approx. 190m north east of its junction with the UI191, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 410m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the UI192, CI026, A69, Warwick Bridge and UI191 Burnrigg.
Duration: From 31 August 2026 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTROC/19399)
5. U2254, near Wigton, from its junction with the B5302, extending in an overall northerly direction for approx. 710m.
There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.
Duration: From 1 September 2026 for approx. 4 days (Ref: TTROC/19079)
A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 26 August 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
