What is happening?
WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS IN THE BARROW-IN-FURNESS LOCALITY AREA)(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) (NO.1) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable highway works to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists), from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in the attached Schedule.
Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs as and when the temporary closures are in force.
Westmorland and Furness Highways will ensure that local residents and the general public are informed of which roads are to be closed and when, nearer the time.
A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 24th August 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for 3 months and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

EXTENT OF RESTRICTIONS AND ALTERNATIVE ROUTES
1. Lord Roberts Back Street, Walney Island - (Ref: TTROW/19825)
From its junction with White Street, extending in a north easterly direction to its junction with Warren Street.
Alternative Route: via Warren Street, Lord Roberts Street and White Street.
2. Roose Road Back Street, Barrow-In-Furness - (Ref: TTROW/19830)
From its junction with St Lukes Avenue, extending in a south westerly direction for a distance of approx. 120 metres.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of Roose Road Back Street, North Street, Sherwin Street, Salthouse Road and St Lukes Avenue.
3. U5131, Dalton-In-Furness - (Ref: TTROW/19832)
From its junction with Greystone Lane, extending in an overall north easterly direction to its junction with Stone Barrow Lane.
Alternative Route: via Greystone Lane, C5032 and Stone Barrow Lane.
4. Whitehead Street Back Street, Barrow-In-Furness - (Ref: TTROW/19887)
From its junction with Whitehead Street, extending in a north westerly then north easterly direction for its entire length.
There is no suitable alternative route.
5. Ramsden Street Back Street and Church Street Back Street, Barrow-In-Furness - (Ref: TTROW/19956)
(i) Ramsden Street, from its junction with Church Street Back Street, extending in a north easterly direction to its junction with School Street.
(ii) Church Street Back Street from its junction with Ramsden Street Back Street, extending in a south easterly direction to its junction with Albert Street.
Alternative Route: via Albert Street and School Street.
