CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (SCAWFELL ROAD AND BEACONSFIELD STREET, CARLISLE) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists), from proceeding along the following sections of road:
- Scawfell Road, Carlisle, from its junction with Greta Avenue, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 30m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of Scawfell Road, Skiddaw Road, Bedford Road and Greta Avenue.
Duration: From 25 August 2026 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTROC/19353)
- Beaconsfield Street, Carlisle, from its junction with Arthur Street, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 30m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of Beaconsfield Street, Blackwell Road and Currock Road.
Duration: From 8 September 2026 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTROC/19418)

The Order will come into operation on 25 August 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
