What is happening?

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (LONGLANDS AVENUE AND THE A590 HINDPOOL ROAD, BARROW-IN-FURNESS) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable highway works to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road in Barrow-In-Furness;

(i) Longlands Avenue, from its junction with Highlands Avenue, extending in a south easterly then south westerly direction to its junction with Clevelands Avenue.

Alternative Route: via Clevelands Avenue, Flass Lane, Rating Lane and Highlands Avenue. (Ref: TTROW/19856)

(ii) A590 Hindpool Road, from its junction with Ashburner Way, extending in a south easterly direction to its junction with the John Whinnerah Roundabout.

Alternative Route: Via Duke Street, Cornwallis Street and the unrestricted section of Hindpool Road. (Ref: TTROW/19933)

The Order will come into operation on 26th August 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for 3 months, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
