South Marston - Introduction of a 20mph Zone

SWINDON BOROUGH COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS, SWINDON) (SPEED LIMITS) CONSOLIDATION ORDER 2022 (VARIATION NO. 3) 2026

SOUTH MARSTON

NOTICE IS GIVEN of Swindon Borough Council made the above Order under the provisions of The Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which is as follows:

Revoke the 30mph speed limit/restricted road status (where driving is restricted to 30mph with the presence of street lighting) and introduce a 20mph zone on the following roads in South Marston:

Old Vicarage Lane – from property No 1 Old Vicarage Lane to the junction of Highworth Road and Thornhill Road.

Nightingale Lane from the junction of Old Vicarage Lane for approx. 912 metres, in a north easterly direction.

Thornhill Road from north-east of St Michaels to the junction of Old Vicarage Lane and Highworth Road.

Highworth Road from the junction of Old Vicarage Lane/Thornhill Road to a point 22.6 metre north of the northern kerb entrance into the allotments.

The entire lengths of Ash Gardens, Bell Gardens, Bryon Court, Chapel Lane, Manor Park, Fuller Gardens, Greenfields, Manor Meadows, Manor Park, Quarrybrook Close, Rawlings Close, St Julian’s Close and Yew Tree Gardens,

The Order will be operative from 10 August 2026. A copy of the documents for the Order may be inspected online at www.swindon.gov.uk/trafficregulationorders

If you wish to question the validity of the Order, or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or on the grounds that any requirements of that Act or of any instrument made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Order, you may, within 6 weeks from 5 August 2026 apply to the High Court for this purpose.
