Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

The A23 GLA Road (London Road, London Borough of Croydon) Prescribed Routes and Stopping Restrictions Traffic Order 2026

1. Transport for London, hereby gives notice that it intends to make the above named Order under sections 6 and 7 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

2. The general nature and effect of the Order would prohibit vehicles from:

(1) entering or exiting London Road between its junctions with St Helen’s Road and Raymead Avenue;

(2) stopping on London Road between its junctions with St Helen’s Road and Raymead Avenue;

(3) entering, exiting or stopping within the extent of any GLA Side Road, as indicated by red lines at the edge of the carriageway or traffic signs bearing the legend Red Route that has a junction with the A23 London Road between its junctions with St Helen’s Road and Raymead Avenue;

(4) stopping on the service road fronting Nos. 1 to 40, Jubilee Court, London Road;

(5) stopping on the service road fronting Silchester Court, London Road;

(6) stopping on the service road fronting Gala Court, London Road;

(7) entering or proceeding in a southerly direction on London Road between its junctions with Thornton Pond Heath Roundabout (London Road) and Brigstock Road.

at such times and to such extent as may be necessary for reasons of (amongst other things) maintenance, inspection or, repair works, road traffic accidents, vehicle breakdowns or spillages. The extent of the prohibitions and the times when they apply shall be as indicated by the placing of the appropriate traffic signs. The prohibitions would not apply to any vehicle or pedestrian engaged in works for the cleansing, maintenance, repair, improvement or reconstruction of the roads.

3. The roads which would be affected by the Order is the A23 London Road and GLA Side Roads between its junctions with St Helen’s Road and Raymead Avenue (varying lengths of these roads: St Helen’s Road, Stamford Road, Semley Road, Craignish Avenue, Tylecroft Road, Northborough Road, Norbury Court Road, Beatrice Avenue, Pollard Hill North, Ederline Avenue, Melrose Avenue, Somerset Gardens, Kilmartin Avenue, Pollards Hill South, Strathrye Avenue, Wharfedale Gardens, Galpin’s Road, Warwick Road, Headcorn Road, Oaklands Avenue, Leander Road, Winterbourne Road, Heathview Road, Langdale Road, Goldwell Road, Lyndhurst Road, Malvern Road, Colliers Water Lane, Thornton Row and Raymead Avenue) in the London Borough of Croydon.

4. A copy of the Order, a statement of Transport for London’s reasons for the proposals, a map indicating the location and effect of the Order and copies of any Order revoked, suspended or varied by the Order can be inspected by visiting our website at https://haveyoursay.tfl.gov.uk/tro and selecting the relevant borough and reference the Traffic Order relates to or by appointment during normal office hours at our office at the address below. 5. All objections and other representations to the proposed Order must be made in writing and must specify the grounds on which they are made. Objections and representations must be sent to Transport for London, Streets Traffic Order Team, Palestra, 197 Blackfriars Road, London, SE1 8NJ quoting reference SNO/REGULATION/STOT/BS/TRO, GLA/2026/0545, to arrive before 27th August 2026. Objections and other representations may be communicated to other persons who may be affected.

6. At such times as the prohibitions are in force alternative routes will be indicated by traffic signs.
