South Lakeland - Multiple Temporary Road Closures due to Highway Works

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS IN THE SOUTH LAKELAND

LOCALITY AREA) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) (NO. 14) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable highway works to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists), from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in the attached Schedule.

Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs as and when the temporary closures are in force.

The Order will come into operation on 23rd August 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for 1 month and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

SCHEDULE - EXTENT OF RESTRICTIONS AND ALTERNATIVE ROUTES

1. C5067 Paddy Lane, Meal Bank - (Ref: TTROW/19812) From its junction with A685, extending in a southerly direction for its entire length. Alternative Route: via the A684, U856 and the A685.

2. U5334 Broom Lane, Underbarrow (Ref: 19803) From its junction with the C5048 Hollin Bank Hill, extending in a north easterly direction for its entire length. Alternative Route: via the C5048 Hollin Bank Hill, U5596 and the C5059.

3. U5630 Helm Lane, Oxenholme (Ref: TTROW/19815) From its junction with A65, extending in a north easterly direction for its entire length. Alternative Route: via A65, C5067 Helmside Road.

4. C5003 Troutbeck (Ref: TTROW/19816) From its junction with the A592, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 1.9km. Alternative Route: via the A592, A591 and the unrestricted section of the C5003.

5. C5057 Hollins Lane, Burneside (Ref: TTROW/19839) From its junction with the A591, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 915m. Alternative Route: via the A591 and C5058.

6. C5056 Burneside (Ref: TTROW/19840) From its junction with the A6, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 2km. Alternative Route: via the A6, A5284, A591 and the unrestricted section of the C5056.

7. C5109 High Newton (Ref: TTROW/19804) From its junction with Cartmel Lane, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 3km. Alternative Route: via East Bound Traffic: via the A590. West Bound Traffic: via the C5053.

8. C5077 Old Hutton (Ref: TTROW/19823) From its junction with the C5078, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 1.4km. Alternative Route: via the C5078 Old Scotch Road, B6254, U5645 and the unrestricted section of the C5077.

9. C5023 Spark Bridge (Ref: TTROW/19802) From its junction with the A5092, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 1.2km. Alternative Route: via the C5022 and the A5092.

10. C5039 Haverthwaite (Ref: TTROW/19807) From its junction with the B5278, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 720m. Alternative Route: via the B5278 and the A590.

11. C5008 Lower Hawthwaite (Ref: TTROW/19808) From its junction with the A593, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 1.6km. Alternative Route: via the A593, A595, C5007 and the unrestricted section of the C5008.

12. C5027 Near Sawrey (Ref: TTROW/19809) From its junction with the B5285, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 1km. Alternative Route: via the C5026 and B5285.

13. U5224 Skelwith Bridge (Ref: TTROW/19811) From its junction with the U5223, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 2.3km. Alternative Route: via the U5223, B5343 and the A593.

14. U5032 Wrynoss Pass (Ref: TTROW/19824) From its junction with Side Gates Road, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 6.3km. Alternative Route: via the U5527, C5004, A593 and the C5008.

15. U5570 Spark Bridge (Ref: TTROW/19822) From its junction with A5092, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 990m. Alternative Route: via the A5092 and the C5023.

16. U5527 Side Gates Road, Little Langdale (Ref: TTROW/19813) From its junction with the B5343, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 3.9km. Alternative Route: via the A593, B5343 and the unrestricted section of the U5527.

17. U5320 Hollow Lane, Lindale (Ref: TTROW/19818) From its junction with the C5053 Cartmel Lane, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 1.3km. Alternative Route: via the B5271, A590 and the C5053 Cartmel Lane. East Bound Traffic: via the C5053 Cartmel Lane and the A590.

18. B5285 Hawkshead (Ref: TTROW/19820) From its junction with the C5026, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 2.2km. Alternative Route: via the C5026, C5027 and the unrestricted section of the B5285.

19. C5026 Newby Bridge (Ref: TTROW/19834) From its junction with the U5222, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 5.5km. Alternative Route: via the A590, A5084, A593 and the B5285.

20. Victoria Street and Crescent Road, Bowness on Windermere (Ref: TTROW/19953)

(i) Victoria Street from its junction with the A591 Ambleside Road, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 195m.

(ii) Crescent Road from its junction with Victoria Street, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 225m.

Alternative Route: via the A5074 New Road, A592 Rayrigg Road and the A591 Ambleside Road.
