Leyton - Temporary Traffic Restrictions Due To Thames Water Works
What is happening?
THE LONDON BOROUGH OF WALTHAM FOREST (LBWF)
Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 –Section 14(1) - The Waltham Forest (Maud Road E10) - (Thames Water) (Temporary Measures) - (No. 1) Order 2026
The Council of The LBWF HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that on 6th August 2026 it made an Order to enable Thames Water to carry out excavation works in a safe and efficient manner in the carriageway and footway on Maud Road E10, for the replacement of a district meter.
The general effect of the Order will be, only at such times and to such extent as regulatory signs are displayed, in;
(i) Maud Road; from the south-western kerb line of High Road Leyton, south-westwards for 10 metres, to prohibit motor vehicles from entering, waiting or loading for any purpose, at "any time".
(ii) High Road Leyton;
(a) between the common boundary of Nos. 233 and 235 High Road Leyton and a point 20 metres south-east of the south-eastern kerb line of Maud Road, suspend the northbound lane and prohibit pedestrian access on the western footway;
(b) suspend the pedestrian crossing outside No. 229 High Road Leyton;
(c) suspend the bus stop adjacent to No. 25 Maud Road.
Whilst the prohibitions referred to above remain in force, advance warning signage and alternative routes for traffic and pedestrians shall be in place.
The restrictions mentioned above would not apply in relation to any vehicle being used, or pedestrian:
(a) in connection with the said works; or
(b) for ambulance, fire brigade or police purposes (if the works allow).
The Order will come into operation on 10th August 2026 and would be valid for a maximum period of 1 month or until the works are completed, whichever is the sooner. (Ref: TT27(26))
NOTE: Signage placed in advance of any works in the above-mentioned roads would give more specific details on the exact dates of the effects and of any temporary traffic management as necessary. The works are expected to be completed within 5 days. The order has been extended to allow for contingencies.
