What is happening?

NOTICE is hereby given that Manchester City Council has made the CITY OF MANCHESTER (MEECH STREET AND STATON STREET, CLAYTON AND OPENSHAW) (PROHIBITION OF WAITING AND PROHIBITION OF LOADING/UNLOADING) ORDER 2026 under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of the Order will be to introduce the following:

NO WAITING AT ANY TIME:

Meech Street, north side from 4m west of Staton Street easterly to 4m east of Staton Street. Staton Street, (i) both sides from Meech Street northerly for 5m, (ii) east side from 17m south of its cul-de-sac end northerly around the turning head and up to its cul-de-sac end, (iii) west side from 17m south of its cul-de-sac end northerly direction up to and including its cul-de-sac end.

NO LOADING/UNLOADING AT ANY TIME:
Meech Street, north side from 4m west of Staton Street easterly to 4m east of Staton Street. Staton Street, both sides from Meech Street in a northerly direction for 5m.

The Order was made on 5th August 2026 and will come into effect on 14th August 2026. A copy of the Order and the plan can be requested by emailing phlegal@ manchester.gov.uk or inspected at the Customer Service Centre Ground Floor, Town Hall Extension, M60 2LA (for Sat. Nav. use M2 5DB) between the hours of 9am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday. Anyone wishing to question the validity of the Order or any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any requirement of that Act or of any instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Order may within 6 weeks from 5th August 2026 apply to the High Court for such purpose.
