What is happening?
THE KENT COUNTY COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS, BOROUGH OF SWALE)
(WAITING RESTRICTIONS AND STREET PARKING PLACES)
(CONSOLIDATION) ORDER (AMENDMENT No.4) ORDER 2026
NOTICE is hereby given that the KENT COUNTY COUNCIL proposes to make an Order under sections 1, 2, 32, 35, 36, 45, 46, 47, 49, 53, 124 and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the Traffic Management Act 2004, and all other enabling powers, after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act.
The effect of the named Order is:-
(a) In St Mary’s Road, Faversham, it is proposed to remove the existing double yellow lines across the vehicle entrance to Faversham Tyres to accommodate a new white bar marking, and also at the rear of 15 Forbes Road, Faversham, in Kingsnorth Road;
(b) In Hilda Road, Halfway, it is proposed to install double yellow lines around the junction of Western Avenue and Belmont Road to facilitate access by the refuse freighter;
(c) In Staplehurst Road, Sittingbourne, it is proposed to install a single yellow line on the east side of the road between No.173 Staplehurst Road and the existing double yellow lines on the junction with London Road, with a timed restriction on Monday to Friday between 8am and 6pm;
(d) It is proposed to install new, or formalise existing disabled persons’ parking bays outside 10 Edenbridge Drive, 72 Invicta Road and 27 Berridge Road in Sheerness, 10 Stanley Avenue and 133 High Street, Queenborough, 51 Abbey Street, 35 Athelstan Road, 25 Edith Road and 40 Plantation Road, Faversham, 58 Charlotte Street, 17 Greenways, 96 Rock Road, and at the side of Flat 16 Murston Road, in Woodberry Drive, Sittingbourne;
(e) It is proposed to remove the redundant disabled persons’ parking bays outside 7 St John’s Road and 3 Upper Brents in Faversham, 27 Frederick Street and 83 Rectory Road, Sittingbourne, 15 Playstool Close, Newington, 36 Alexandra Road, 35 Alma Road and 56 Winstanley Road, Sheerness.
The Order will include some changes of an administrative matter which will make no alterations to existing parking and waiting restrictions and will require no changes to existing parking lines or signs.

Representations supporting or objecting to the proposed Order (your objection must explain the impact on traffic in the locality to be valid) can be sent in writing to Engineers@swale.gov.uk or by post to the Engineering Team, Leisure & Technical Services, Council Offices, Swale House, East Street, Sittingbourne, Kent, ME10 3HT by 12 noon on Friday 4th September 2026.
