Order 2026
Notice is hereby given Colchester City Council acting on behalf of the North Essex Parking Partnership in exercise of the delegated powers of the traffic authority Essex County Council granted under an Agreement dated 1st July 2022 has made the above Order under Sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3), 4(1), 4(2), 32, 35, 45, 46, 49 and 53 and Parts III and IV of schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984
The effect of the Order:
- To introduce No Waiting at Any Time restrictions on Monkwick Avenue, Colchester on both sides of the road between numbers 40 and 52 incorporating the entrance to Thomas Lord Audley School.
This Order will be incorporated into The Essex County Council (Colchester Borough) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On-Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019 by replacing tile number TL955 225 revision 0 with revision 1.
Date of operation: The Order will come into operation on 24th August 2026.

Application to the high court: Anyone who wishes to question the validity of the Order or any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or on the grounds that any requirement of the Act, or any instrument made under it, has not been complied with in relation to the Order, may within six weeks from the date of the making of the Order apply to the High Court for this purpose.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).
Effect of the order:
To temporarily introduce prohibition of traffic on various roads in the City of Colchester as below. Access for residents and business will be maintained wherever possible under steward or traffic marshal supervision.
Road Name — Description
St Peters Street, Colchester — From its junction with Short Cut Road to its junction with Middle Mill.
Middle Mill, Colchester — Closed for its entire length
Northgate Street, Colchester — From its junction with West Stockwell Street and its junction with Middle Mill.
St Helens Lane, Colchester — From its junction with Taylor Court to its junction with Maidenburgh Street.
Museum Street — From Castle Bailey to High Street, the entire length.
Castle Bailey — From its junction with Museum Street east the entire length
Ryegate Road — From its junction With Museum Street north to Worcester Road, the entire length
Diversion routes: will be clearly signed on site.
The restrictions are scheduled to commence on 20 August 2026 to 29 August 2026 between the hours of 12:00 and 23:59 each day or where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting. This is required for the safety of the public while Colchester Summer Series take place.
The Orders will come into effect on 20 August 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the Events have finished.
(Footpath 39, Myland) (Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the above Order made by Essex County Council, under s14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, has been continued in force with the consent of the Secretary of State for the Department for Transport until 09 February 2027
Effect of the order: To temporarily close to all pedestrians Footpath 39, Myland in the City of Colchester, from its junction with footpath 38, northwest for approximately 315 metres. No alternative route is available.
The closure commenced on 09 February 2025 and is required for the safety of the public and workforce whilst construction works are undertaken.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Ferry Road, Fingringhoe in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 230m north west then north east of its junction with Church Road for a distance of approximately 30m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 2nd September 2026 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD03168396308 – Anglian Water Business (National)). Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Ivy Lodge Road, Great Horkesley in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 250m south east then north east of its junction with Nayland Road for a distance of approximately 30m in a north easterly direction.

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
- To temporarily close that length of Osborne Street, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 50m south east of its junction with Abbeygate Street for a distance of approximately 50m in a south easterly direction
- To temporarily close that length of Whitewell Road, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Osborne Street for a distance of approximately 10m in a south westerly direction.
