Proposed Provision of a Pedex Crossing on A245 Portsmouth Road, Cobham
Notice is hereby given that Surrey County Council, in exercise of their powers under Section 23 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Section 23(2)(A) of the said Act of 1984, propose to establish a Signalised ‘Pedex’ Crossing on A245 Portsmouth Road, Cobham. The proposed crossing is to be 4m in width, centred 22.4m west of the centreline of D6887 Matthew Arnold Close.

A307 Portsmouth Road, Esher and Cobham 40mph Speed Limit Order 202-
Surrey County Council propose to make the above named Order under Section 84 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) (“the Act”) and of all other enabling powers, the effect of which will be to reduce the maximum speed limit imposed on the length of A307 Portsmouth Road, Esher and Cobham specified and described in the Schedule to this Notice from 50mph to 40mph.
This will require the amendment of “The Surrey County Council (Various Roads in Elmbridge) (Revocation and Re-Imposition of 40mph Speed Limit) Order 2003” and revocation of any Order made under Section 84 of “the Act” that imposes the existing 50mph speed limit on the length of A307 Portsmouth Road, Esher/Cobham specified and described in the Schedule to this Notice.
The speed limit proposed by this Order shall not apply to vehicles used by special forces in accordance with the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011.
A copy of this Notice together with a plan showing the length of road to which the Order relates and a Statement of the Council’s reasons for proposing to make the Order may be viewed online at www.surreycc.gov.uk/roads-and-transport/policies-plansconsultations/ roads-and-transport-consultations. These documents together with a copy of the proposed Order, may also be viewed in person, during normal opening hours at:- (a) Surrey Highways, Hazel House, Merrow Lane, Guildford, Surrey GU4 7BQ; (b) Cobham Library, The Cedar Centre, Cedar Road, Cobham, Surrey KT11 2AE.
If you wish to object to, or make representations about, the proposed Order, including any in support, you must send them in writing, stating the grounds on which they are made, a) using the online form via the webpage quoted above; or b) to the undersigned, at Traffic Regulation Orders Team, Hazel House, Merrow Lane, Guildford, Surrey, GU4 7BQ, by 04 September 2026.
THE SCHEDULE
That length of Portsmouth Road (A307) Esher and Cobham that extends from the point at which it crosses over the Esher By-Pass (A3) at Fairmile Common on “A307 Portsmouth Road Bridge”, north-eastwards, to a point 70m southwest of its junction with D6891 Claremont Avenue.
