THE CITY OF EDINBURGH COUNCIL

(NEWBATTLE TERRACE AREA) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTION AND TRAFFIC REGULATION) order 2026 - Temp/26/119

The Council has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be that for a temporary period, to facilitate Scottish Power trial hole works, no person shall: (a) drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle on any part of the roads specified in Schedule 1, provided that no more than one of the measures in Phase 1, Phase 2 & Phase 3 described in Schedule 1 be enacted at the same time; & (b) except with the permission of a Parking Attendant, cause or permit any vehicle to wait or load onto or unload from any vehicle at any time on any part of the roads specified in Schedule 2. Existing parking restrictions will be suspended on the affected sections of road described in Schedule 2. The alternative routes for through vehicular traffic in relation to the road closures in Schedule 1 will be by way of: (a) Phase 1 (i) Church Hill/Clinton Road - Clinton Rd, Whitehouse Ln, Newbattle Ter, Morningside Rd, Church Hill Pl & Church Hill; (ii) Pitsligo Rd - Pitsligo Rd, Newbattle Ter, Whitehouse Ln & Clinton Rd; (b) Phase 2 Pitsligo Rd - (1) Clinton Rd, Whitehouse Ln & Newbattle Ter; or (2) Church Hill, Church Hill Pl, Morningside Rd & Newbattle Ter; (c) Phase 3 (i) Newbattle Ter - Newbattle Ter, Morningside Rd, Church Hill Pl, Church Hill, Clinton Rd, Whitehouse Ln & Newbattle Ter; (ii) Pitsligo Rd - Pitsligo Rd, Clinton Rd, Whitehouse Ln & Newbattle Ter. The Order shall have effect from 12/08/26 to 10/09/26. For the duration of this Order the alternative routes for The City of Edinburgh (Canaan Lane) (Temporary Road Restriction and Traffic Regulation) Order 2026 (TEMP/26/104) shall be amended to: (southbound) - Canaan La, Newbattle Ter, Whitehouse Ln, Strathearn Pl, Greenhill Gdns, Chamberlain Rd, Morningside Rd, Cluny Ave, Braid Ave, Woodburn Ter & Canaan La; (northbound) - Canaan La, Morningside Rd, Chamberlain Rd, Greenhill Gdns, Strathearn Pl, Whitehouse Ln, Newbattle Ter & Canaan La. SCHEDULE 1 ROAD CLOSURES: Phase 1, (i) Church hill/ Clinton road, from 5m east of the extended east kerbline of Pitsligo Rd, north-westwards for 55m; & (ii) pitsligo rd, at Church Hill/Clinton Rd; Phase 2, pitsligo rd, from the extended south kerbline of Church Hill/Clinton Rd, southwards to the extended north kerbline of Newbattle Ter; & Phase 3, (i) newbattle Ter, from the extended west kerbline of Pitsligo Rd, eastwards to the extended west kerbline of Canaan La; & (ii) pitsligo rd, at Newbattle Ter. SCHEDULE 2 PROHIBITION OF WAITING LOADING & UNLOADING (a) Church hill, south side, from the extended south kerbline of Church Hill, southeastwards to the extended west kerbline of Pitsligo Rd; & (b) newbattle Ter, both sides, from the extended east kerbline of Eden La, eastwards to the extended west kerbline of Canaan La.
