Grange Road Area, Edinburgh - Temporary Road Restrictions
What is happening?
The City of Edinburgh Council
(Grange Road Area) (Temporary Road Restriction and Traffic Regulation) Order 2026 - Temp/26/113
The Council has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be that for a temporary period, to facilitate Scottish Power duct installation works, no person shall:
(a) drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle on any part of the roads specified in Schedule 1, provided that no more than one of the measures in Phase 1, Phase 2, Phase 3, Phase 4, Phase 5 & Phase 6 described in Schedule 1 be enacted at the same time; &
(b) except with the permission of a Parking Attendant, cause or permit any vehicle to wait or load onto or unload from any vehicle at any time on any part of both sides of the roads specified in Schedule 2.
Existing parking restrictions will be suspended on the affected sections of road described in Schedule 2.
The alternative routes for through vehicular traffic in relation to the road closures in Schedule 1 will be by way of:
(a) Phase 1 Palmerston Rd - Beaufort Rd, Grange Rd, Mansionhouse Rd, Hatton Pl, Chalmers Cres & Palmerston Rd;
(b) Phase 2 (i) Chalmers Cres - Beaufort Rd, Grange Rd, Mansionhouse Rd, Hatton Pl & Chalmers Cres; (ii) Mansionhouse Rd - (1) Grange Rd, Beaufort Rd, Chalmers Cres, Hatton Pl & Mansionhouse Rd; & (2) Grange Rd, Cumin Pl, Dick Pl & Mansionhouse Rd;
(c) Phase 3 Lauder Rd - (1) Grange Rd, Tantallon Pl, Hatton Pl & Lauder Rd; & (2) Grange Rd, Cumin Pl, Dick Pl & Lauder Rd;
(d) Phase 4 (i) Cumin Pl - Grange Rd, Seton Pl, Dick Pl & Cumin Pl; (ii) Tantallon Pl - Grange Rd, Lauder Rd, Hatton Pl & Tantallon Pl;
(e) Phase 5 (i) Seton Pl - Grange Rd, Findhorn Pl, Dick Pl & Seton Pl; (ii) St. Catherine's Pl - Grange Rd, Lauder Rd, Hatton Pl, Tantallon Pl, Sciennes Rd & St. Catherine's Pl;
(f) Phase 6 Findhorn Pl - Grange Rd, Seton Pl, Dick Pl & Findhorn Pl.
The Order shall have effect from 10/08/26 to 16/09/26.
Schedule 1 – Road Closures:
Phase 1, Palmerston Rd at Beaufort Rd;
Phase 2, (i) Chalmers Cres, at Beaufort Rd; (ii) Mansionhouse Rd, (1) at Grange Rd (north junction); & (2) at Grange Rd (south junction);
Phase 3, Lauder Rd (1), at Grange Rd (north junction); & (2) at Grange Rd (south junction);
Phase 4, (i) Cumin Pl, at Grange Rd; & (ii) Tantallon Pl, at Grange Rd;
Phase 5, (i) Seton Pl, at Grange Rd; & (ii) St. Catherine's Pl, at Grange Rd;
& Phase 6, Findhorn Pl, at Grange Rd.
Schedule 2 – Prohibition of Waiting, Loading & Unloading
(a) Beaufort Rd; and
(b) Grange Rd, from 40m east of the extended east kerbline of Chalmers Cres, eastwards to the extended east kerbline of Findhorn Pl.
