Essex - Parking Restrictions & Temporary Road Closures due to Works

What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Braintree District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On-Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) (Amendment No.56) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given Colchester City Council acting on behalf of the North Essex Parking Partnership in exercise of the delegated powers of the traffic authority Essex County Council granted under an Agreement dated 1st July 2022 has made the above Order under Sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3), 4(1), 4(2), 32, 35, 45, 46, 49 and 53 and Parts III and IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

The effect of the Order:

  1. To introduce a restricted parking zone No Waiting at Any Time on East Street, Braintree from its junction with Manor Street to its junction with Carier Close.

  2. To introduce No Waiting at Any Time restrictions on East Street Braintree on its West side from its junction with Carrier Close to meet existing No Waiting at Any time restrictions at its junction with Coggeshall Road.

  3. To introduce No Waiting at Any time restrictions on East Street, Braintree on its East side at its junction with Carier Close.

  4. To introduce No Waiting at Any time restrictions at Station Hill, Bures on its South side from number 3 to the junction with New Cut.

  5. To introduce No Waiting at Any time restrictions at Station Hill, Bures on its North side from opposite number 3 in a west direction to the railway bridge, to include both junctions with Water Lane.

  6. To introduce No Waiting at Any time (junction protection) restrictions at the junction of Colchester Road and Normandie Way, Bures.

This Order will be incorporated into The Essex County Council (Braintree District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On-Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019 by replacing the numbers TL765 227 revision 0 with revision1, TL765 230 revision 0 with revision1, TL760 230 revision 3 with revision 4, TL760 227 revision 2 with revision 3, TL760 232 revision 0 with revision 1, TL900 337 revision 0 with revision 1, TL900 340 revision 0 with revision 1, TL905 335 revision 0 with revision 1.

Date of operation: The Order will come into operation on 7th September 2026.

Application to the high court: Anyone who wishes to question the validity of the Order of any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or on the grounds that any requirement of the Act, or any instrument made under it, has not been complied with in relation to the Order, may within six weeks from the date of the making of the Order apply to the High Court for this purpose.

(Beazley End, Wethersfield) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close the length of Beazley End, Wethersfield in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 135m north east of its junction with Codham Mill Lane for a distance of approximately 30m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 2nd September 2026 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD03166263301 – Anglian Water Business (National)). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while ferrule repair works are undertaken by Anglian Water Business (National).

An alternative route is available via Parkhall Road, Church Road, A1017, A131, B1053, Church Lane, Church Street and vice versa (with access only into Bovingdon Road and Beazley End).

The Order will come into effect on 13th August 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Colchester Road, Witham & Oak Road, Rivenhall) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close that length of Colchester Road, Witham in the District of Braintree, from both of its junctions with Eastways to its junction with Northbound Slip From A12 To Witham a distance of approximately 85m.

  2. To temporarily close that length of Oak Road, Rivenhall in the District of Braintree, from its junction with London Road for a distance of approximately 30m in a north easterly direction and from its junction with London Road for a distance of approximately 35m in a north westerly direction.

The closures are scheduled to commence on 2nd September 2026 for 38 nights (21:00-05:00), or where stated on a valid permit (FN40685143795 & FN40669788777 – National Highways Ltd). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce to support full closure of the A12 NB J24 to J25 while resurfacing works are undertaken by National Highways.

An alternative route is available via A131, A120.

The Order will come into effect on 13th August 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(School Road, Rayne) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of School Road, Rayne in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 60m north east of its junction with Mill Lane for a distance of approximately 30m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 2nd September 2026 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD01310805303 – Anglian Water Business (National)). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Anglian Water Business (National).

An alternative route is available via Gore Road, The Street, Dunmow Road, B1417, Watch House Green, Rayne Road, Frenches Green Road, Crix Green Road, Main Road, Bartholomew Green Road and vice versa (with access only into Bartholomew Green Road, School Road, School Lane and New Road).

The Order will come into effect on 13th August 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Station Approach, Braintree and Bocking) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Station Approach, Braintree and Bocking in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 145m south east of its junction with South Street for a distance of approximately 40m in a south easterly, easterly then north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 1st September 2026 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP20167801141 – JCS Poster Site Construction Ltd). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while bus shelter removal works are undertaken by JCS Poster Site Construction Ltd.

An alternative route is available via Station Approach and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 13th August 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Boarded Barns Road, The Salings/Shalford) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Boarded Barns Road, The Salings/Shalford in the District of Braintree, from the junction with Shalford Green to the junction with Bardfield Road a distance of approximately 1680m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 17th August 2026 for 9 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2405701 & EP201EH2405694 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Shalford Green, Victoria Hill, Hyde Lane, Bardfield Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 30th July 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Cornish Hall End, Finchingfield) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Cornish Hall End, Finchingfield in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 280m south east then south west of its junction with Herkstead Lane for a distance of approximately 100m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 17th August 2026 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411001WGSK266J – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole replacement works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via B1057, B1054, B1053, B1057 and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 30th July 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Crabb's Hill, Hatfield Peverel) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Crabb’s Hill, Hatfield Peverel in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 180m south west of its junction with Church Road for a distance of approximately 30m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 19th August 2026 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD03167313859 - Anglian Water Business (National)). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while stoptap replacement works are undertaken by Anglian Water Business (National).

An alternative route is available via Sportsmans Lane, Nounsley Road, Ulting Road, Maldon Road, Church Road and vice versa (with access only into Crabb’s Hill).

The Order came into effect on 30th July 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Mill Lane, Cressing) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Mill Lane, Cressing in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 190m south west of its junction with Braintree Road for a distance of approximately 500m in a south westerly then north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 17th August 2026 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC008WGRL3K0NL2CSB – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole testing works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Mill Lane, Braintree Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 30th July 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
