What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Footpath between Pump Lane and Mayne Crest, Springfield)
(Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2026

Further to notice: Under section 14(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended), which commenced on 03 August 2026.

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.

Effect of the order: To temporary close footpath between Pump Lane and Mayne Crest, Springfield in the City of Chelmsford, from its junction with Pump Lane to its junction with Mayne Crest approximately 35 metres.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 08 August 2026 to 08 February 2027 or where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while footway upgrades are undertaken.

The alternative route will be via Mayne Crest, Belmonde Drive, Brackenden Drive, Pump Lane and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 08 August 2026 and may continue in force for 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Footpath 29, Roxwell) 
(Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2026

Further to notices: Under section 14(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended), which commenced on 20 July 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(as amended)

Effect of the order: To temporarily close the following length of Footpath 29 Roxwell in the City of Chelmsford, from its junction with Footpath 27, north for approximately 250 metres over the bridge to Skreens Park Road.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 10 August 2026 or where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting. The closure is required for the safety of the public because of the surface falling into the river. Works will be programmed in due course.

Alternative route via: Footpath 27, off Stonehill Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 10 August 2026 and may continue in force for 6 months, or until the issue has been resolved.

(Byway 25, Great Waltham) (Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended). 

Effect of the order: To temporarily close Byway 25, Great Waltham, in the City of Chelmsford, from its junction with Ringtail Green south to its junction with Penden Hill for approximately 2155 metres.

Diversion will be via: Ringtail Green, Pleshey Road, Ford End Road, Pleshey Road, Penden Hill and vice versa.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 17 August 2026 to 17 November 2026 where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting. 

The closure is required for the safety of the public, while surface improvement works are undertaken The Order will come into effect on 17 August 2026 may continue in force for 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Church Road, Little Baddow) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Church Road, Little Baddow in the City of Chelmsford, from its junction with Chapel Lane for a distance of approximately 90m in a north westerly direction. 

The closure is scheduled to commence on 3rd September 2026 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2408965 – Essex County Council). 

The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while drainage works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via
1. Church Road, Hammonds Road, Hurrells Lane, Chapel Lane, Church Road and vice versa.

2. Church Road, Colam Lane, North Hill, Worlds End, Mowden Hall Lane, B1137, Plantation Road, Church Road and vice versa

The Order will come into effect on 13th August 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Mashbury Road, Chignal/Great Waltham) 
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Mashbury Road, Chignal/Great Waltham in the City of Chelmsford, from the junction with Barrack Lane for a distance of approximately 3145m in a south westerly then north westerly direction. 

The closure is scheduled to commence on 1st September 2026 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC311003WGTWFH1P & BC311004WGTWFH1P – Openreach). 

The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while cabling works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Mashbury Road, Fox Road, Smallshoes Hill, Barrack Road, Bury Road, The Street, Pleshey Road, Penden Hill, The Village, Barrack Lane and vice versa. 

The Order will come into effect on 13th August 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Waltham Road, Boreham) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Waltham Road, Boreham in the City of Chelmsford, from a point approximately 10m south east of its junction with Cranham Road for a distance of approximately 25m in a south easterly direction. 

The closure is scheduled to commence on 24th August 2026 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EN01365723A – Essex And Suffolk Water). 

The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/ or displayed on one.network. 

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while water mains upgrade works are undertaken by Essex And Suffolk Water. 

An alternative route is available via Waltham Road, B1137, A131, Wheelers Hill, Drakes Lane, Boreham Road, Waltham Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 13th August 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Partridge Green & Woodhouse Lane, Broomfield) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Partridge Green & Woodhouse Lane, Broomfield in the City of Chelmsford, from a point approximately 120m north west then south west of the junction with Woodlands Way for a distance of approximately 230m in a south westerly then north westerly direction. 

The closure is scheduled to commence on 17th August 2026 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC311001WGJD3L1P & BC311002WGJD3L1P – Openreach). 

The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. 

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while Installation of cabling works are undertaken by Openreach. No diversion route is available.

The Order came into effect on 30th July 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
