What is happening?

Highways

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.

GRAVESHAM AREA

B256 West Street, Gravesend, DA11 0AN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026

Because of Southern Water Services works, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit eastbound traffic on part of B256 West Street, Gravesend, on or after 24th August 2026 for up to 10 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed eastbound between numbers 66 and 6.

The alternative route is via B256 Stuart Road, A226 New Road, A226 Bath Street.



Chapmans Hill, Meopham, DA13 0QP (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026

Because of Southern Water Services works, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Chapmans Hill, Meopham, on or after 24th August 2026 for up to 5 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed near The Forge.

The alternative route is via Chapmans Hill, Rosemary Lane, Hodsoll Street, A227 Wrotham Road and vice versa.



East Terrace, Gravesend, DA12 2AH (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026

Because of Southern Water Services works, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of East Terrace, Gravesend, on or after 24th August 2026 for up to 5 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between numbers 32 and 35.

The alternative routes for any through traffic is via:

The Terrace, A226 Harmer Street, A226 Milton Road, Milton Place, East Terrace.

Milton Place and The Terrace.



Frobisher Way, Gravesend, DA12 4RQ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026

Because of footway reconstruction works, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Frobisher Way, Gravesend, on or after 12th August 2026 until 4th September 2026 or until the works have been completed.

The outer circle only including Tamesis Strand will be closed.

There is no alternative route but access will be maintained when safe to do so.



Pear Tree Lane, Shorne, DA12 3JT (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026

Because of a new water connection, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Pear Tree Lane, Shorne, on or after 26th August 2026 for up to 3 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside Mullion.

The alternative route is via Pear Tree Lane, The Ridgeway, Brewers Road, Halfpence Lane, Darnley Lodge Lane, Thong Lane, A226 Rochester Road/Gravesend Road and vice versa.



Taylors Lane, Higham, ME3 7AY (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026

Because of the replacement of one existing telegraph pole and rehang associated cabling, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Taylors Lane, Higham, on or after 10th August 2026 for up to 2 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed approx. 130m north of the junction with Ostlers Court.

The alternative route is via Taylors Lane, School Lane, Chalk Road and vice versa.



West Crescent Road, Gravesend, DA12 9GR (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026

Because of Openreach works, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of West Crescent Road, Gravesend, on or after 10th August 2026 for up to 2 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between number 56 and Wilfred Steet.

The alternative routes for any through traffic are via:

A226 Milton Road, Queen Street, A226 The Terrace, Harmer Street, Berkley Crescent.

Berkley Road.



Various Roads, Gravesend, DA12 4XQ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & CYCLE LANE SUSPENSION) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026

Because of walking surveys for utility locations using ground penetrating radar, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic and suspend the cycle lanes on Various Roads, Gravesend, on or after 10th August 2026 until 13th August 2026 between 19.00hrs and 05.00hrs or until the works have been completed.

Cycle Lane Closures:

A226 Rochester Road at the junction of Castle Lane

A226 Gravesend Road at the junction of Green Farm Lane and Forge Lane

Closures:

Castle Lane from Filborough Way to A226 Rochester Road

Diversion is via Lower Higham Road, Vicarage Lane, Chalk Road, A226 Rochester Road.

Forge Lane at the junction with A226 Gravesend Road

Diversion is via A226 Gravesend Road, Pear Tree Lane, Tanyard Hill, The Street.

Green Farm Lane at the junction with A226 Gravesend Road

Diversion is via Lower Higham Road, Chalk Road, A226 Rochester Road, A226 Gravesend Road

Telegraph Hill at junction with A226 Gravesend
