Workington - Temporary Road Closures Due To Utility Works

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (U2728 POW STREET, U2645 SPEEDWELL LANE AND U2443 BROW TOP/DERWENT STREET, WORKINGTON) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following lengths of road:

1. Pow Street, Workington from its junction with Udale Street to its junctions with Speedwell Lane, Murray Road and Finkle Street; and

2. Speedwell Lane, Workington from its junctions with Pow Street, Finkle Street and Murray Road to its junction with Brow Top; and

3. Brow Top, Workington from its junction with Speedwell Lane/Ladies Walk to a point where it joins Derwent Street; and

4. Derwent Street, Workington from a point where its joins Brow Top to its junction with Church Street.

A suitable alternative route for North West Vehicles will be signed and available via Udale Street, A596, Washington Street, Jane Street, Oxford Street, Station Road, A597 and Church Street.

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 24 August 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required for 17 days and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
