Ludworth - Temporary Road Closure Due To Carriageway Resurfacing Works
What is happening?
The County Council of Durham (C60 Margaret Terrace, Ludworth) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026
The Council proposes to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on the following length of road.
A 415 metre length of C60 that extends west from its junction with C65 junction, Ludworth to enable carriageway resurfacing works to be undertaken.
An alternative route will be available to vehicular traffic from the eastern side of the closure from C65, north east on C60 toward Haswell Plough, westerly on B1283 to Sherburn Hill crossroads, then south easterly and easterly on C60 Crime Rigg Bank through Shadforth, leading to the western side of the closure and vice versa. The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months.
The works are required between 8am-6pm from Monday 24/8/2026 and for the duration of the works anticipated to be 6 working days over a 9 day period (no works over the bank holiday weekend). On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
