St Johns Road - Temporary Road Closure Due To Resurfacing Works
What is happening?
The County Council of Durham (A690, St Johns Rd junction, Meadowfield) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026
The Council proposes to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all vehicular traffic, except for access by emergency service vehicles, from proceeding on the following lengths of road. A 430 metre length of A690 between its junctions with side No. 9 John Street South, Meadowfield and the access to St Patricks Primary School, Langley Moor and a 55 metre length of St Johns Road, extending south east from A690 to enable carriageway resurfacing works to be undertaken. An alternative route will be available to vehicular traffic from the south western side of the closure, from A690 south westerly to the junction with B6300, then south easterly on B6300 to A167, then north on A167 to Nevilles Cross and turning south westerly on A690, to the north eastern side of the closure and vice versa. The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are required between 8pm-6am from Saturday 22/8/2026 and for the duration of the works anticipated to be 7 nights. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
