M62 Motorway (Junction 34) and A162 and A1 Trunk Roads (Ferrybridge) - Temporary Restriction and Prohibition of Traffic

THE M62 MOTORWAY (JUNCTION 34)
(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the M62 Motorway, in the County of North Yorkshire, to enable parapet replacement works to be carried out in safety.

The works are expected to start on Tuesday  1 September 2026 for 6 months, or until completed. The effect of the Order will be, for 24 hours a day, at times during the works, to:

(i)     impose a temporary 50mph speed restriction on the M62 eastbound carriageway from 300 metres west of the exit slip road at Junction 34 (Whitley Interchange) to 300 metres  east of the entry slip road at Junction 34,  a distance of 895 metres; and

(ii)    close the M62 eastbound entry slip road at Junction 34.

THE A162 AND A1 TRUNK ROADS
(FERRYBRIDGE)
(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the A162 and A1 Trunk Roads, in the County of West Yorkshire, to enable parapet, restraints and concrete replacement works to be carried out in safety.

The work is expected to start on Tuesday 1 September 2026 for 3 months, or until completed. The effect of the Order will be, for 24 hours a day, at times during the works, to:

(i)     impose a temporary 50mph speed restriction on the A162 southbound carriageway from 225 metres north of Ferrybridge Interchange North to the A162 southbound carriageway with the M62 entry slip road at Junction 33, a distance of 890 metres;

(ii)    impose a temporary 50mph speed restriction on the A1/A162 northbound carriageway from the exit slip road at its junction with the A1 to the entry slip road of the M62 at junction 33, a distance of 2007 metres;

(iii)   impose a temporary 50mph speed restriction on the A162 northbound and southbound entry and exit slip roads at Junction 33;

(iv)   impose a temporary 50mph speed restriction on the A1 northbound exit link road with the A162;

(v)    during lane closures, ban vehicles with an overall width exceeding 6’6” and overall weight exceeding 7.5 tonne in specified lanes of the A162 as described in the lengths of carriageway as described in (vi) and (vii); It will also be necessary to close, at times during the works the:

(vi)   the A162 northbound carriageway from the exit slip road to the entry slip road at Junction 33, a distance of 960 metres;

(vii)  the A162 southbound carriageway from the exit slip road to the entry slip road at Junction 33, a distance of 845 metres; and

(viii) the northern and southern circulatory carriageways at Ferrybridge Interchange,  a distance of 180 metres.

Traffic management will be in force 24 hours a day and traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restrictions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency services vehicles, traffic officer vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for winter maintenance purposes).

The Orders come into force on 31 August 2026 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
