CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS, WHITEHAVEN) (CONSOLIDATION AND PROVISION OF TRAFFIC REGULATIONS) ORDER 20><

1. Cumberland Council hereby gives notice that it proposes to make the above Order under Sections 1(i), 2(1) to (4), 19, 32, 35, 35A, 38, 45, 46, 47, 49, 51, 53 and 64 and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and Part 6 of the Traffic Management Act 2004.

2. The effect of the Order will be to consolidate the provisions of Cumberland Council (Various Roads, Whitehaven) (Consolidation and Provision of Traffic Regulations) Order 2025, and introduce/amend (as applicable), the following in Whitehaven and surrounding area:-

i) “No Waiting At Any Time” restrictions on parts of Lowther Street and Ruland Avenue, Whitehaven;

ii) “No Loading/Unloading At Any Time” restrictions on parts of Lowther Street, Whitehaven; and

iii) “No Waiting At Any Time” restrictions on parts of Preston Street and Foxhouses Road, Whitehaven (includes extensions); and

(iv) Remove the “Prohibition of Motor Vehicles, Thursday & Sunday, 7.00 am – 6.00 pm, whilst the market is being held” restriction on James Street, Whitehaven as there is no legal provision to hold a market on that street.

NB: The Council is also taking this opportunity to rectify a number of incorrect entries in the Order, to reflect the actual restrictions as they appear “on the ground” eg. to remove the measurements which extend over a junction.

3. Full details of the proposed Order, together with plans showing the lengths of road concerned, a copy of the Order to be consolidated, and a statement of the Council's reasons for proposing to make the Order, may be:-
