ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 

THE A200 GLA ROAD (BERMONDSEY STREET AND DRUID STREET, LONDON BOROUGH OF SOUTHWARK) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF 
TRAFFIC AND STOPPING) ORDER 2026    

1. Transport for London in consultation with the London Borough of Southwark hereby gives notice that it intends to make the above named Traffic Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 for the purpose specified in paragraph 2.   The effect of the Order is summarised in paragraph 3. 

2. The purpose of the Order is to enable light upgrade works to take place at A200 Bermondsey Street and Druid Street in the London Borough of Southwark.

3. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any vehicle from: 

(1) entering or proceeding on Bermondsey Street between its junctions with St Thomas Street/ Crucifix Lane and Magdalen Street;

(2) entering, exiting, proceeding or stopping on Druid Street between its junctions with Tower Bridge Road and Barnham Street, cycles and pedestrian marshalled access will be maintained from Whites Grounds and residential marshalled vehicular access will be maintained from Brunswick Court; 

The Order will also:  

(3) permit two-way operation on Roper Lane between its junctions with Druid Street and Tower Bridge Road;

(4) permit all vehicles to proceed in a northerly direction on Bermondsey Street between its junctions with Morocco Street and Whites Grounds. 

Works will be phased as such that not all restrictions may apply at any one time.   

The Order will be effective at certain times between 18th August 2026 and 16th February 2027 every night between 10.00 PM and 5.00 AM or when the works have been completed whichever is the sooner.  The prohibitions will 
apply only during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs. 

4. The prohibitions will not apply in respect of:

(1) any vehicle being used for the purposes of those works or for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes; 

(2) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a person authorised by Transport for London. 

5. At such times as the prohibitions are in force alternative routes will be indicated by traffic signs. For Bermondsey Street northbound via St Thomas Street or via Snowfields, Kipling Street, Long Lane, Great Dover Street and Borough High Street to normal route of travel. For Crucifix Lane via Tower Bridge Road, Tower Bridge, Tower Bridge Approach, Tower Hill, Byward Street, Lower Thames Street, Upper Thames Street, Queen Street Place, Southwark Bridge, Southwark Bridge Road and Southwark Street to normal route of travel. For Crucifix Lane for vehicles over 3.5 tonnes via Tower Bridge Road, Queen Elizabeth Street, Tooley Street, Tower Bridge Road southbound, Bricklayers Arms, Great Dover Street and Borough High Street to normal route of travel.
