What is happening?

THE BOROUGH OF BLACKBURN WITH DARWEN COUNCIL
Extension To: Footpath 100 Darwen - Temporary Closure Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Secretary of State for Transport in pursuance of the power conferred by section 15 (5) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 has approved of the continuing in force of the Order made and effective on 5th February 2026. As the works have not been completed the Secretary of State for Transport granted an extension of the Order until 5th February 2028 or until completion of the works, whichever is the earlier.

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any persons from using the path referred to in the Schedule below due to works being carried out on the line of the right of way. The alternative routes available (if any) are referred to in the schedule below.

The path will be closed in the interest of public safety.

Footpath 100 Darwen from Higher Wheathead Farm at Point A (SD 68774 19911) in a southerly direction for approximately 126 metres to the junction with FP98 and FP109 at Point B (SD 68713 19814). This is shown with a solid bold line.

There are no alternative routes in place during the closure of these footpaths.
