What is happening?

THE EAST RIDING OF YORKSHIRE COUNCIL
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH
TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
BARF LANE, BUGTHORPE

East Riding of Yorkshire Council has made an Order
the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from
proceeding along part of Barf Lane, Bugthorpe from its
junction with Roman Road A166 commencing
24 August 2026 at 08.00 hours until 28 August 2026
at 17.00 hours to allow for soil investigation works at
Barf Bridge for part of Barf Lane, Bugthorpe.
The reason for the closure is to enable the proposed
works to be carried out and completed in a manner
consistent with ensuring the safety of the public.
It is anticipated that the works will be completed within
five days. The alternative route for traffic affected by
the Order is via Barf Lane, Main Street, Bugthorpe
Lane, Brickyards Lane, A166 Clay Hill and A166 Roman
Road, Bugthorpe CP, Full Sutton CP, Bishop Wilton CP,
Wolds Weighton Ward. The road will be closed to all
through traffic, pedestrians and emergency services
due to the nature of the works which will require
plant and holes to be dug in the carriageway. The
Order will commence 24 August 2026 and continue
in force for a period not exceeding eighteen months
or until the works which it is proposed to carry out
have been completed, whichever is the earlier. Further
