TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDERS 2026

(NORWICH)

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

Norfolk County Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, hereby give notice that:

(i) THEY PROPOSE TO MAKE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:

BOWTHORPE ROAD, HOTBLACK ROAD, DEREHAM ROAD – A) Hotblack Road from its junction with Dereham Road for 15m northwards and B) Bowthorpe Road from its junction with Dereham Road for 75m westwards and C) Dereham Road from 20m west of its junction with Bowthorpe Road for 60m westwards to facilitate electrical installation works, the Roads A and B will be temporarily closed (except for pedestrian access) and traffic (constituting any class of vehicle) over the Road C shall be temporarily prohibited to park, stop, load, and/or unload from 10th to 18th August 2026 (may continue until 29th September 2026). Alternative route is via: Road A: Dereham Road, Waterworks Road and vice versa. Road B: Farrow Road, Earlham Road Roundabout, Farrow Road, Guardian Road, Sweet Briar Road roundabout and Dereham Road. The works promoter is UK Power Networks.

MARRIOTTS WAY – cycle track and footpath from its joining with Hellesdon Road to its joining with A147 Barn Road Roundabout to facilitate cycle track and footpath resurfacing works from 10th to 24th August 2026 (may continue until 5th October 2026). Alternative route is via: Oak Street, St Martins Road, Drayton Road, Hellesdon Hall Road, Hellesdon Road and vice versa. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

ONLY STREET, LEICESTER STREET – A) Only Street from its junction with Unthank Road to its junction with Leicester Street and B) Leicester Street from its junction with Only Street to its junction with Gloucester Street to facilitate gas main replacement works from 10th August to 25th September 2026 (may continue until 25th March 2027). Alternative route is via: Gloucester Street, Unthank Road and vice versa. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

(ii) THEY HAVE MADE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:

ALL SAINTS GREEN – from 30m northeast of its junction with Surrey Street for 60m north-eastwards (westside only), traffic (constituting any class of vehicle) over the Road shall be temporarily prohibited to park, stop, load, and/or unload to facilitate materials compound works from 3rd August to 30th October 2026 (may continue until 30th April 2027). Alternative route is via: N/A. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

BETHEL STREET AND ST PETERS STREET – A) Bethel Street from its junction with Cleveland Road to its junction with St Peters Street and B) St Peters Street from its junction with Bethel Street to its junction with Gaol Hill to facilitate surface dressing works from 2nd to 14th August 2026 (may continue until 25th September 2026). Alternative route is via: Eastbourne St Giles Street. Westbound – Gaol Hill, Exchange Street, St Andrews Street, Duke Street, St Crispins Road, Barn Road, Grapes Hill and Cleveland Road. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council. NB: These works are anticipated to take place in phases. Phase 1 between 05:00 and 10:00 from 2nd to 9th August 2026 and Phase 2 between 19:00 and 23:59 from 12th to 14th August 2026.

EARLHAM ROAD – from its junction with Colman Road Roundabout to its junction with Earlham Green Lane/Bluebell Road Roundabout to facilitate gully and drainage works between 19:00 and 23:00 from 6th to 7th August 2026 (may continue until 18th September 2026). Alternative route is via: Colman Road, Mile End Road, Newmarket Road, Bluebell Road and vice versa. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

HANSARD ROAD FOOTPATH REAR OF 48 TO 60 – from its junction with Burges Road Footpath South of 2 leading to Mile Cross Road to its junction with Hansard Close to facilitate meter exchange works on 3rd August 2026 (may continue until 14th September 2026). Alternative route is via: Burges Road Footpath South Of 2 Leading To Mile Cross Road, Burges Road, Soleme Road, Hansard Road and vice versa. The works promoter is Anglian Water.

MOUSEHOLD AVENUE FOOTPATH BETWEEN 125 AND 127 – from its junction with Gertrude Road to its junction with Mousehold Avenue to facilitate gas main upgrade works from 3rd to 28th August 2026 (may continue until 2nd February 2027). Alternative route is via: Mousehold Avenue, Gilman Road, Gertrude Road Footpath Between 214 And 216 To Gilman Road, Gertrude Road. The works promoter is Cadent.

ST PHILIPS ROAD – A) from its junction with Dereham Road to its junction with Stafford Street and B) from its junction with Stafford Street to its junction with Sandringham Road to facilitate lead pipe replacement works from 3rd August to 4th September 2026 (may continue until 4th March 2027). Alternative route is via: Sandringham Road, Alexandra Road, Earlham Road, Heigham Road, Dereham Road and vice versa. The works promoter is Anglian Water. NB: please note that the works are anticipated to take place in phases, with Road A closed during phase 1 and Road B closed during phase 2. The restrictions for each phase will be in place when indicated by the presence of on-site signs.

Unless otherwise stated, the effect of these Orders will be to prohibit the use by traffic of the named road(s)/footpath(s). In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance. Where an Order is for a reason other than works it is because of the likelihood of danger to the public or of serious damage to the road/footpath. Anticipated dates are stated but the Orders may continue until the end date where necessary or required. The Orders are revoked on the end date or on the actual date of removal of the prohibition/restriction where earlier without further notice. If necessary, the restrictions can have a maximum duration of 18 months or 6 months in respect of footpaths, cycle tracks, bridleways, restricted byways, and byways open to all traffic (BOAT), but may also be extended further by the Secretary of State.

Penalty: £100 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.
